If you have concerns then don't buy it. You have to go with your gut instinct.

buying any second hand van is pot luck no matter the make or model or age

all you can do is check it and buy as wisely as possible

vivaros are well know for injector faults and gearbox issues  but thats not to say it will happen to you

whats the alternative? any van you pick will have known faults

Alternative = buy a van with less known faults i.e. any other van going - according to what people on this forum have posted about vivaro/traffic/primastar.

I'd get the opinion of a mechanic rather than a window cleaner.  However, don't ask one for advice on the best WFP pole as he'll be as clueless about that as most window cleaners are about vehicles.

Have an 08 Vivaro for 2yrs end of March, ex AA van serviced by BT fleet for 1st 113,000 miles before I bought it.

New gearbox fitted just before I bought it - apparently

4mths in cam chain snapped at 15 mph lunched the engine (bought 2010 engine with 56,000 miles)
Drivers window winder mech packed in £200 roughly, sealed unit
Front  wheel bearing rumble which took out the hub £430 'cos no generic parts had to have Vauxhall
Spare wheel rusted to hell as in under-slung hanger

Consumables like tyres n brakes, oil etc. So far no injector problems although I have sealed the airbox manifold which apparently helps with the ingress of water to injector no2.

Looks Great, drives beautifully but not sure if I'd buy another one.

Like Vin says get a mechanic to look at it but no mechanic could have forseen the problems I've had.

Good Luck

Any 06- 10 plate Vivaro & under 240K on the clock then Vauxhall will honour all labour and parts as a good will gesture if diagnosed with injector faults. I have just had a 59 plate Vivaro done last month . This extended warranty runs out when  the vehicle is 7 years old . Mention the BBC watchdog as per the link below because they will try and fob you off . Speak direct to Vauxhall Customer Service and not the dealer !!

You have to take a general view you are gonna get people say I've had mine for a 100k with no problems but with this particular van they would have been remarkably lucky,I would never buy one of these vans or the trafic or the primistar.

Had one starting out and never again

This one came with fsh, one owner etc soon as the warranty was up problem after problem, gearbox, injectors, electrics, random complete non starts etc etc etc

Only i was able to fix the gearbox myself, change the injectors and i have a scan tool i would of been out a fortune in repair bills

Wouldnt wish one on anyone tbh, went straight to a Transit and never looked back, complete work horse ill be buying another one without a doubt
