I was in B&Q today looking for a few things including Ubik or Virosol to clean some UPVC frames but they did not have any.
They had other brands ike Swarfega but they contained Sulphates.
Any stockists or is it only avaiable online?

We get our virosol from mustang cleaning supplies google them prices are reasonable but there are lots of suppliers on line

screwfix degreaser is just as good

screwfix degreaser is just as good
Thanks for the replies.
Screwfix degreaser contains,
Nonionic Surfactants 5-15%, Anionic Surfactants <5%, Phosphates 5-15%
C9-11 Pareth6
Ethanolamine
Tetrapotassium Pyrophosphate
Sodium Dodecylbenzenesulfonate
Sodium Xylene Sulfonate
Formalddehyde
Are any of those going to be harmful to U.PV.C frames, aluminium, rubber?

Wow you do your research don't you . As long as you don't leave it on the plastic to long it should be fine .I have never once looked at what the cleaners say on the bottle ☺👍

I didn't rate it. Tried quite a few.
I always go back to Virosol. Contact them and see if you have a local agent

Thanks for the replies,
jk999, I am boring and always like to read instruction booklets too :)
Regarding the cleaner, I had read that Virosol and Ubik do not contain Sulphates so assumed that was important. Maybe not for the surface it is applied to but for environmental reasons.
simonr, thanks for letting me know you have had success with it.
duncan h, I will ask Virosol for a local agent.
Seymour Sunshine, very therapeutic video :)

If using virosol on a sunny day and you get it on glass clean it straight of because it's a nightmare to get of when dry

What about Swarfega is that not about the same stuff

Bleach,
Try it, makes the job 100 times easier.
Basically means you’ll be softwashing.
I started mixing thick bleach with water in a backpack sprayer for facias and gutters, it was the best move I’ve made.
That led on to buying a softwash machine from Ben at Rutland pumps, before I knew it, I was into the softwashing business as well. With a website dedicated to Just that, as well as my standard window cleaning one.
Try it, you can mix it to a low strength ratio, so there’s no risk of damage to plants/grass etc etc.
It makes the algae, dirt and lichen drop off, with a small amount of scrubbing where needed (depending on how strong a solution you go)

ive been using virosol for years and never had this problem.
I've used Virosol on two conservatory roofs in the last 18 months that have been completely transformed into potential insurance claim cases. Fortunately there is a solution to this, but Virosol on the wrong glass will screw it over completely.

did you use it neat matt? and was it on so called "self cleaning glass"?what happened?and what did you use to clean it off?
-
Wasn't neat, but pretty strong. It was self cleaning glass. On both occasions it was just the roof.
The thing to do once it happens, and you know it happens because the glass looks as if the seal has gone and has been that way for many years - you know how kacky glass looks after being that way for a long time - is simply to apply some sort of descaler, I use Kilrock. It restores it back to the original condition, literally like magic.

cheers matt.i tend NOT to use virosol if i know the glass roof is self cleaning even if it is really dirty.nevermind it wont be long before we have hot water to use on them in future. :)

This is a job for softwashing if ever there was one. You'd spend days doing a big unit that way.
