Kevin may advise differently but I would say thats wrecked.

6 sided sealing should have been done before installation.

Chris

Joking aside there could be several ways this can be solved or as Jamie says it could be wrecked.

If you need some help and advice I will need the following info please

Stone Type
Size of Tiles or slabs
M2 involved
Close up Pics e mailed over with this info to me at tilinglogistics@hotmail.com

Don't know if it helps but I have to go to Colne in the morning to look at a job.  I aim to be there at 10am and I am using the M6.  If the job is anywhere near my route and your around I will call in and have a look at it

I take back what i said about you......what a lovely man.
The stone is sandstone (grey bits) and quartz (black strips)
I have not measured the area but up to now there is approx 20sqm with more to be laid
The tiles are approx 18" square..
Staining is into the sandstone by approx 1/2"

Come to my caravan after you finish work ...i'll get my boyfriend to cook us a candle lit dinner for three :-*

Chris, we have a sandstone quarry in our family and I have never seen sandstone like this. Either someone is telling you porkies or you have found the only sandstone in the world that has a resemblance to Limestone/Marble??

Also, I doubt if grout would stain sandstone in the way this has, yes, it may have a slight leakage into the stone, but this looks a write off to me.
I hope Kevin can do something with it for you.

Kevin ...I do appreciate you offering to call in yesterday but I did not want to trouble you . After all it is a relatively small low paying job compared to your jobs... but thank you anyway . I wish more suppliers took a genuine interest.
Can I not undertake the tests ...given guidance by you and post you the results?

How do I tell the difference between Limestone and Sandstone? Or limestone/marble.

Sandstone is generally a very rough faced stone, typical of what you would see in old buildings, pavements, gardens etc.

Marble IS Limestone which has, over the years been subject to heat and pressure and would 'normally' have a smooth finish.

From the photos I must admit it look's like Limestone, has someone tried to clean this before you see it, with brick acid? as some of the stains look very much like some of the stains I see when home owners try to clean Limestone themselves with an off the shelf patio cleaner and don't read the label, as is what's it in?

Rob
Not teaching you to suck eggs, but not all Sandstone is rough faced (Rivened) what about a honed Sandstone surface, no roughness there  8)

I was just trying to point out the obvious differences between the two. To be honest, we do not get a lot of Honed Sandstone up here in Yorkshire, there is some admittedly but I would bet there is a high percentage more riven than honed. But I do take your point. You can help me out here, where does white or black (in the case of the picture on this thread) come from?

I did not want payment I had got up at 5am anyway to go and assess a job for someone who had paid me.  If it was in the locality I would have called in as I had completed my tests , measured up, agreed terms and had our contract signed for the work in Colne by 10.30am.  I am not going to publish on here a series of tests I want you to do but call me, we can discuss it in detail and I will then talk you through what I would do if you like.

Where is the job anyway?  Don't forget if your planned course goes ahead for the 22 Feb I will be up there anyway.  I also need confirmation for that day as I need to book an extra car into Manchester Airport for my Prague trip and I need to book that hotel we discussed.

Who knows?? to me it still looks like Limestone and as Cleaningsystemsuk said could be Chinese.
I'd ask the contractor where they got the stone from, then approach the supplier as to where they got it from, this way you know what you are dealing with, little bit of detective work but should get an answer.
I have seen "Chinese" Limestone mark like this before though.

I looked a sandstone floor before xmas between Bradford and Halifax it was a freshly quarried - very light coloured and looked at a glance like limestone until vague vaining could be seen and it stained chronically. I had a new stone built porch put on my house so new mullions round the window and it looks just like that. Sandstone comes in various forms - outcrop near my house is a coal measure sandstone looks totally different from the outcrops 1/2 a mile away.

I was hoping that it would be a bit nearer home, I would like to see it. Not too sure how I would go about it without actually seeing it. The problem is, if the seal hasn't been applied to all sides, I doubt it is actually achievable to remove the 'framing'.
Surface grout staining is relatively easy to deal with for obvious reasons, but the grout will probably be the full depth of the tile.
"Someone"...might correct me on this, but I wonder if it would be worth removing the grout and applying a poultice and leaving, it may need repeating a couple of times. I import and use Lantania Poultice and I also use one from Crawshaws. If you give Jill a ring at Crawshaws (020 8686 7997) she may well be able to help out, she really is the last word in Stone Restoration, despite what others might think about their high and mighty selves on here. Crawshaws also do a really good training course which I would recommend to all considering stone restoration.

The problem may be able to be corrected but you will need to carry out a few tests for me!  You have nothing to lose as it sounds like it is going to be ripped up anyway.  On the other hand is this all worth it for 20M2.  Incidentally you can forget Lantania Poultice for this problem we have been selling Lantania Products for 2 years they are OK in certain circumstances but not for this application.

I have taken abuse from all angles tonight, with no malice or bitterness, but if thats how you want to be, thats ok with me, just don't expect me to sit here and let you deliver you uninformed abuse at me without retaliation.

Now, you can either leave me alone as I have done nothing to you (or anyone else for that matter) tonight, or you can join my list of idiots that I will have no more to do with.

When did I call you an idiot? If I did, it was probably for a good reason.

So, as you have not explained why YOU have now chosen to join the "Have a go at at Rob" thread, I can only assume...you do not have any justifiable reason.

Why would I want any dealings with you? I have managed without your products and will manage without your products for many MANY more years too.

Top product Tadgh! ....The other outcome was t was all going to be re lifted and replaced.

Pointless Chris, Tadgh has already thrown me the noose!  ;D
Maybe it's worth a reunion....Tadgh might have products there that could save yourself some bother. You dont have to love him!
I spoke with him about a year ago, I was going to go over to see him and his products, but it would appear he is part of the KM appreciation society and, clearly, I am not.
I quite like KM myself  ... I met him at the weekend. Forgot to ask him about impregnating sealers tho' ;D
I have often said, he is a fountain of knowledge and I have also said I respect his opinions. It is just a shame that he decides to jump down peoples throats if they dare have an alternative method to his ;D

What was the name of the product? Had oil staining from food on a newly laid sandstone floor nothing would shift it

Hi Graeme, The product I sent to Chris would not solve this but I do have a safe oil digester that I think would be the ideal product, I can send you a sample to try out to see if its any benefit, if you want to receive just send me your address on email to info@jskcleaning.ie and I will arrange for you
