Although I've suffered for most of my life, from degenerative conditions, which caused agonising pain, from Sciatica, Spondititis and ultimately, Spinal compression...........I worked on, albeit in a lower volume...............but

On Monday last, around 2am I awoke with terrifying sensations and in a sweat..............Feeling sick I attempted to get out of bed without wakening my wife, but, on rising up and swinging out my legs my head was swimming like nothing I'd ever experienced and I literally fell against the wall, which woke up my wife, who panicked..........I continued to stagger, heavily down the hallway to the bathroom, where I spent the next hour being very sick ,

I was 'scared' to lie down again, realising this was seroius, and sat in a chair, trying to breathe away the problem.

It was Easter Monday and I decided, stupidly, not to call out a doctor.............

On Tuesday morning I was told that The indications were that I probabably had Angina and.................

THE WARNINGS HAD BEEN THEIR FOR AGES

So........the pain you feel, which you dismiss as heatburn/indigestion might be a warning, or the lightheadedness/dizzyness .......................

Don't be a martyr, like me................my wife and kids really want me in their lives, much more than I ever realised.

Look after yourselves

Rob,
sorry to hear of your illness, it's hard to slow down esp if you enjoy what you do!
I trapped the sciatic nerve in my back about four years ago and have suffered badly with sciatica ever since and see a osteopath every four months. It does help but it has made me think about slowing down what i do and perhaps changing my career altogether, i've been carpet cleaning for about ten years and it certainly does take it's toll on your health, alot of it is repetative which i think is where the problem lies.
But you make a valid point, your health should come way before your work and it's not good to ignore the warnings, sometimes we just have to stop and take stock of the situation!
I'm in my thirties but i wonder what it will be like if i carry on, esp if i feel the strain now.
Regards

Steve

I am a qualified therapist  ( physical ) following 20 plus years of Osteopathy which kept me going through agonising pain.............

I only got to the root of the problem about 4 years ago, when everyone informed me, there was nothing they could do as I HAD DEGENERATED TO SPINAL COMPRESSION AND THE ONLY OPTION WAS SPINAL SURGERY..........RISKY !

By luck, I came across and subsequently trained with a specialist who devised a method of treatment ( not known to Osteos or Chiros which returned my flexibility and enabled me to realign my spine and pelvis when I do something I shouldn't....as we all do !

This is what I intend spending my life doing

Look into www.therapy-glasgow.co.uk

My mentor lives in Harrow, but has a few others, like me around the country

Rob,
whats exactly involved in the treatment, sounds interesting :)
Do you have to be formally qualified to do this?

Most 'therapist' training is fairly expensive and the only one which does, NOT require certification, is electrotherapy , surprisingly.

There is an Anatomy and Physiology requirement, which is a prerequisite for most training, and all practitioners must have proper insurance, which is only available to qualified practitioners, or students.

I originally trained in Bowen therapy.........like a gentle Osteopathy ( without the Cracking of necks and backs ) or the percussive force.
This was enhanced by courses in Laser, Interferential, Alignment technique and ultimately Pelvic and Spinal Correction.

You can be taught The Pelvic Correction method, to use on yourself or family and this is offered following two treatments.............probably, the last you'll  ever need.

I'm in the West of Scotland, but there are a few certificated practitioners elsewhere in the UK
