upvc cleaning

hasanyone any suggestions on how to apply tfr to roof guttering. can you buy a lance or someting similar. i am a window cleaner in the newcastle area and am looking to find the best ways of cleaning upvc.. any suggestions very welcome

I use a cheap garden chemical sprayer the type you get from b&q etc just mix your tfr and pour it in container pump up the canister up and spray it on.

whats the best way of getting it onto the guttering. is is by using ladders, because i seen a local fim using a pole to apply it. i'm not sue if they were dipping there brush into tfr and brushing it on or not

I normally use ladders spray it on then wash it off with a pole but some people just dip a brush in and do it that way.

We pressure wash them, as its much quicker and a lot easier than using a WFP

pole man do you just use a pressure washer??? do you not run the risk of blowing the seals??

If we pressure washed the windows! then yes, but not the guttering, fascias and soffits

i now use my backpack for pumping up the tfr to guttering etc as would never get used any other time anyway. thought about pressure washing but i think it would make the job look too quick and easy and just encourage customers to go do it themselves, so i take a little more time and make it look a little more difficult

Simbo that is a great idea. The customers would really like that when u apply the tfr with a backpack. As u imply, they would be reassured that they were getting a really professional job done.

its short for traffic film remover they generally use it through pressure washers for cleaning trucks etc i believe, but its great for cleaning mold and the green moss etc you get on cons roofs upvc i would recommend the non caustic type myself.

You can spray the TFR onto guttering by using a garden spray container. Fit a connection on the end of it that will fit your pole, put an on/off tap on your pole. Ensure the tap is off, connect your extended pole, pump the garden spray container up with pressure. Put your pole in place against the guttering, turn the tap on and away you go until the pressure drops, then it's a case of turn the pole tap off and re-pump the pressure back up on the garden sprayer.
No need for a pressure washer or a bucket, dipping the brush in it every couple of minutes.
Very simple really. A garden sprayer connected up this way will easily clean guttering at 30ft.

I also clean guttering with the lance, you can buy different types of Jets for the end, I use just 2 of my 5, after I have blasted the crud out of the guttering, I then add the low pressure jet and apply echo truck wash to the guttering and facias.

once thats applied and while its doing its job I change the jet back to high pressue and clean away, guttering comes up a treat every time.

I also use the low pressure jet to apply echo to the concervatory roofs

Im really interested in starting to use a pressure washer for cleaning fascias

I bought my first pressure washer from Toolstation around £200 I think.

I then had a chance of a bigger better one, I used the bigger one on a couple of Jobs and found it to big and cumbersome, and a little too powerful, I have now reverted back to my cheapy one from toolstation.

On some real green guttering jobs the cheapy doesn't fetch of all the black marks underneath the green, but its just a quick flick over with the wfp brush and re blast it, the jobs always come up a treat, takes half the time of ladders and I used them on guttering for years.

Sorry about all the questions but do you know what the psi of your pressure washers are? as I reckon if I bought one that was somewhere between your 2 that'd be about right

Also I take it there diesel/petrol powered

And while im asking I remember some talk on here a while ago about algaecide/fugicide and was thinking about offering this as a extra service at an inflated price

Do you know anything about this?

is it high pressure lance you are using jeff. i have reach and wash system for doing gutters, but i'm desprate to find a long lance to spay tfm to guttering as using ladders and short lance is messy and time consuming.. all suggestions greatly recieved

Im no expert on pressure washers im still trying to gather info myself

But if you mean can you use static water from your tank rather than pressurised water from a tap - im pretty sure not all washers will do this but you can get them as thats what I'll be looking at.

The best place to get info on this is the general cleaning section of this site, theres a lot of driveway cleaners, graffiti removal guys etc on there.
