Who will be raising prices this year ?

Im nervous but i need a cull, i put about 300 up a quid last year...

I have 620 customers, about 50/50 4 and 8 weekly

it works out about £1500 quid a week, but ive no chance of getting  round it all on my own as its too much physically for me to cope with unless i worked 5 days a week every week of the year and its been years since i worked 5 days lol.

Ive got about 130 customers under £12 so decided to start by putting them all up to £12 (apart from about 30 which are fronts only which can stay as they are for now)

Once i ve done that the idea is to look through the rest and pick out about 50  of my worst jobs, either most underpriced or ones that are physically just harder work and whack them up.

Then if all that fails i will stick the rest up by a quid or 2 and see what happens.

Got to the point now where i dont care, happy to lose 50/100 customers and enjoy the increase on the others.

You are right, had a few comback saying its to be expected and understandable...had 2 cancel so far but only messaged about 40 will do them in batches over the next few days.

Yeah I know you may feel it’s a bit dodgy putting them up but tbh it’s expected and you’ve just got to do it to cover you’re costs,I ordered a bag of resin and I don’t know exactly how much it’s gone up but it used to be under a 100 for just a small bag all in,I think it worked out at around 120 this time round.
Some people are taking advantage of it though some products in our industry are made for peanuts and are already marked up a silly amount.

Bloody hell i rememeber when it was like 70 quid for a bag of resin and it wasnt that many years ago. 120 is excessive though, ive just paid £91.35 delivered for tulsion mb115 on ebay last week

I have put almost all my clients up 3 weeks ago.
Some said about time, some say understood considering the circumstances and 1  cancelled.
I was worried,  but it turned out for me to be ok.

I tell mine. Pretty sure you're not allowed to increase a direct debit without informing the customer first, although I geuss with GC it emails them in advance to say how much is coming out and when.

I put my prices up in February.

Might need to go again next year.

I know it seems obvious but if you don’t put them up you are gonna be seriously down on what you do over the course of the month when you factor everything in,my gas and electric is going to be 4K + someone’s gotta pay for it and it ain’t gonna be me.
It’s not a want to put them up it’s a need.

Im putting quite a few up. My one off jobs are going up significantly.

I did a gutter clean last year, small 2 bed place. £160.

She called yesterday to see if I could do it again. Price has gone up to £195. Diesel is getting expensive 

I got a call the other day for an annual solar panel clean I do. Usually it's £240. This year it'll be £335.00. Just because....

Its called 'testing the market'.

I don't go as far as a letter but you have to tell them surely.

I just send a text, use text local via cleaner planner done in 1 click.

Yeah windows cleaned today from the next clean I’m going to have to put it up to X,write a letter to every job no thanks.
I reckon and it’s just my opinion that if you were to email 2-3000 customers telling them the price is going up you’ll get some cancel,I am able to increase at this time what and when I know I can doing it on that kind of mass all at once must get quiet a few cancel,just my opinion.
As a lot of these  multiple van  operators get work per day and some are cancelling also,it’s day to day stuff when you operate with 1000s of customers though.

Well yes the £10 houses that do i have are the smallest ones on my round, terraceds, 2 bed semis or bungalows so it probably stands to reason they are in the poorer areas or are the least well off customers. 

So i think its that along with the fact £2 on a £10 job is a 20% increase which is huge in inflation terms, very rare bills go up by that much (apart from this years of course)

I think if you have a lot of 30/40 quid jobs £2 is nothing but i would say 90% of my round is between £10 - £15 so £2 is actually a relatively big increase in percentage terms.

But yes you are right, i live and work in a northern ex mining town everyone is thrifty and tight thats just the way it is round here. Im the same way, i wont pay anyone to do anything i can do myself and will always look for the cheapest option

It’s not those kind of jobs that will imo it’s the estate work or smaller houses-jobs that will give grief,very wealthy people won’t bay an eyelid as you put it.

Yeah well you know what I mean the wealthy ones will still be wealthy it’s the smaller jobs that will be either putting it back an extra month or so,I mean the people with money not the ones that look like they’ve got some.
