Hello,

Below is a few photos of a 650 litre delivery system which was fitted to a Peugeot Expert last week at Pure Freedom in Grimsby.

When we ordered this system we asked for it to be delivered to us on a pallet fully built up so we could just slide it off the pallet and get the local garage to bolt it down. We paid for the system in full over the phone, the price included a nut and bolt pack with chassis spreader plates and delivery on a pallet.

Unfortunately for us the local garage man was on hols in Italy so we asked Pure Freedom if they could fit us in for a fitting.

"Yes we can the courier hasn't collected it yet" Was the reply.

I asked how much would it be. Their reply was "We will just deduct the postage you have already paid, you just pay the balance"

Perfect I said. "Thanks for fitting us in".

After the fitting one of the lads collected the van and Pure Freedom called us for payment.

Guess how much?..............Keeping in mind that the pallet delivery cost and nut/bolt pack had already been deducted from this price, plus there are no outside van ports or any wiring for split charging.

Also nothing needed to be removed from the underside of the van to install the holding bolts plus the system had been installed over the plylining so no van floor painting was needed or ply lining to be removed.

The price I had to pay so they would release the van was..................£414.00!! So add back on the £40.00 pallet delivery charge and say £10.00 for the bolt pack. The total was £474.00!!!!

£474.00 to drill 11 holes and tighten up 11 nuts and bolts. This price did include three plastic pipe clips shown in the photos.

So that is £43.09 per bolt installed.

I did complain about  the outrageous price but the chap said that he would look at the time sheets, which I don't think he has done yet because they haven't been back in touch. No matter how much I protested about the high price they wouldn't lower the price or release the van before payment was made.

What a complete rip off. My local garage man wanted less than £100.00!! Why did he decide to sun himself in Italy.

I have been a customer of Pure Freedom for the last 4 years. They kitted out my first hot water van for a price of £7500.00

I can honestly say that I would never spend another penny with this company.

did you not think to ask what the fitting price would be , before you let them do it?

I think that is the morale of the story.  Yes its pricey, but i would never hand over my keys to any mechanic or trade without knowing how much it will cost.

Hello Gents,

I'm normally quite on the ball with these kind of things. I think I let my guard down because I have spent money with Pure Freedom since starting up. I just thought they would look after a loyal customer.

Totally agree Nathan - after paying £7500 for a system once , you went back again and expected it to be really cheap for some reason  ???

Who gets anything done these days without asking for a price - your in the wrong here not pure freedom

I use a mobile mechanic for all my vehicle needs, he's excellent. Fitted my tank for £30, took him half hour.
Next month he's doing a major service on the van and car and changing all the pads and discs on the car, £600 all in, and done right on my doorstep so I can keep an eye on him ;)

My mechanic took ten minutes to fit my tank.

Mind you there were two bungee chords to stretch round.

I had a Pure Freedom tank fitted, it took them all day to fit, don't know why because they dropped me off in the stunning town of Grimsby for the day. I walked back 'cos it was a dump and they were still fitting it in the afternoon.

My mechanic put it up on a ramp (with me in back to drill the holes) dropped the fuel tank, bolted it all in including spreaders and even let me have a few of their bolts as mine were quite long and would have been touching the fuel tank

Genuinley, when I asked how much, he laughed and said "I aint charging you for a poxy, easy job like that, next time come in with something challenging"

In fairness I get on with them really well but it took us half hour at best

1. That answer should have made you think twice!
2. Paying £7500.00 for a window cleaning system... And your astonished at £414.00?

I also had a purefreedom system fitted,it took from 8.00 am until 2.30pm, two men working on fitting, this was the third system I have had fitted by purefreedom,I have found them to be a good company to deal with & very helpful,I personally have not found them to be expensive

I personally think that price is a littlw bit toppy but not that expensive really. I use my local mechanic who has done my vans properly and it always tajes him the best part of a day to do it properly. I give him £200 and he is a 1 man band. Pure freedom are a big(ish) company with big(ish) company expenses. You should have expected that sort of price imo
