How big the van needs to be for window cleaning?
« on: August 27, 2012, 10:48:39 pm »
I planning to get a Van soon for window cleaning, second hand. How big the van needs to be in order to carry everything like the tank, the FTP system and everything else?

What is the minimum budget I need in order to get one at a reasonable quality?

THat one should just be big enough to fit 1 backpack and a gardiner clx22 - the rest of the size is purely for advertising space :)

as they say most of the work is getting the custys :)

it depends on the type of work, the amount of work and the amount of operators

I use a ford escort van at the moment with 15 x 25l barrels, one backpack, and one CLX22 - can do a days full work with 1 operator but involves filling the pack all the time

I waant somethng bigger, like a transit connect with a 400l+ tank in it and a 2 operator system.

looking at transit connect, renault traffic, doblo - anything that has a good enough payload :)

You need to say what kind of work you plan to do in order to get a sensible reply. It basically comes down to the amount of weight the van will be carrying.

it all comes down to wether you are gonna run a one or two man sysrptem, if you're gonna be a single man operator then a 400L tank is ideal, I would be looking at a connect hi roof for this, budget 2k, if a 2 man system then transit, hiace or post 2007 vivaros etc, hope this helps.

Ldv vans are cheap, get a big van and then if you need more water carrying capacity you wont have to go out and buy again. The ironic thing is that larger vans are sometimes cheaper to buy than the smaller, newer connects etc.(my mate made that mistake and always bemoans the fact)
