My first camera on a pole was a cannon powershot g7. The camera at the time cost about £250 that I used for messing about with aerial mast photography.
When I sold the mast and another cannon camera as a package I kept hold of the g7 as was a good camera for general family use. Anyhow once I started using it for gutter surveys I actually knackered it in no time at all smacking it about on roof tiles , getting it wet etc. I also tried wired bullet cam type systems, chepo baby type wifi monitors etc and they all broke or just packed up after time.
The best thing I've ever bought so far to date was a gopro h3+ with a touch screen bacpac fitted as is waterproof and very robust for the job so can work out in all weather and not worry about getting it wet or smacking it about either.
Can be used it to wiz around the property to record a vid and play it back and/or connect to a smart phone for real time viewing from the ground. Using real time viewing when vacuuming gutters I find saves a whole lot of time and comes in very hand especially on taller buildings when working on your own.
Obviously for safety reasons you don't look at the smart phone screen the whole time but just stop moving the pole and check the section you are working at the time is clear then move on to the next bit.
Those chepo wifi enabled sj4000 cameras would be just as good for what you need them for and they are dirt cheap to buy. Only thing is the screen is smaller so might not be so clear on playing it back directly through the camera. Not a real issue though as you would just enable the wifi and play the vid back through a smart phone instead whilst on site if you wanted to have a look yourself and/or show the customer how bad they are.
