RO SYSTEMS IN WINTER

HOW DO YOU COPE WITH RO SYSTEMS :With winter just around the corner ,and always using a di system I was wondering how do you protect ro s when they are outside in a shed or covered over,in a van or just plain running outside>?

if you keep the water flowing at night it hopfully will be ok - bit like a fish pond pump .

jsm thanks but remember reading somwhere on here if they freeze  it will damage the membrane?

Hi Gaza and everyone

Any help please -  I am looking to get a RO system 50 gallons a day plus water butt etc. It will have to be kept outside will it be ok well covered over in the winter?
As this is my only option, i will not be producing water all the time just on a short term basis to start with.

What would the best ro system be with di filter for ooo reading ?

Any help greatly appreciated

any RO with DI resin will produce 000 TDS intill the DI resin starts to run out

my TDS is at 006 right now, time to change it soon

I lag my Ro and pipes in the winter, really thick lagging and any old jumpers and jackets around.but if it forcast really way below freezing(very rare) I diconect and bring it in over night.

What can be said?

you just lag it to protect against the risk of frost.

Any R/O will always need a DI too.

It needs the DI to bring the water down to 0.000 ppm. But of course the resin will last so much longer than if you just use the resin without the R/O doing the brunt of the work first.
My own R/O brings my water down to 0.001-0.003 ppm and I could certainly use this without need of the resin, but the membranes slowly lose their effeciency, so not worth the risk.

the picture is becoming more clear to me now, got ionics pole,  backpack,  water butt etc.  Gaza's ordering me a Ro-man 50 gallon a day ro think im on the right road to wfp  8)

Now just got to save up for a trolley system -Andrew Mc canns looks a good bit of kit   Pure Freedom.co.uk

Brett do you think that the 50 gpd ro will be any use,it`ll take forever to produce enough water,especially if you get busyer with wfp,you could do with at least a 200gpd ro,i don`t mean to interfear just trying to save you money in the long run,Gaz.

mine is a 60 gall per day RO, i work 3 and 1/2 days a week with it, each day its on equals the days i work

been using it since July last year, FULL time usage of WFP since NOV last yaer

Hi everyone

Gaz H20 thanks for your help mate a 4 stage 50 gallon a day will be fine for the work i have in mind not going wfp full time just yet i just want to be prepared for any further changes in our line of business, regarding ladders and health and safety etc.

Without this forum and all the wfp threads i have read - Matts diy site, help from Andrew 24-7 and Andrew Mc cann and how can i forget my personal wfp trainer Gaza whos been an inspiration i would not have learnt a thing .  I have a long way to go yet but i have made a start !

Sorry to make it sound like a fare well speech no im not drunk just appreciate the help

ps.  Gaza i dont believe what they say i think youre ok  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D
