Got to move with the times.

Everyone is online.

No way would I be spending twice my fuel bill and hours every week driving round my work a second time to collect.

Best thing I ever did.

Yup. Most pay on the day, and one or two drop the money off at my home. Although I still go collecting, it usually takes no more than an hour a week. Any who are further afield pay me the next time I'm in their area.

Go out once or twice a week. The Mrs has usually sorted the kids by the time I get home and I bring a fish supper home for tea  :), there's usually half a pint of wine waiting for me when I get home too  :)

You def got to move with the times I haven't been collecting for about 7 years, and as for those that owe for 3 or more get your customers trained tell them if they dont pay up after the second clean they don't get done again untill they have.

Depends what you want. Give them an envelope and get them to post payments to you. There's gocardless or PayPal.

If i didnt clean if they owed 2 cleans id be throwing money away.
My customers know that if they dont pay on the day or online/cheque then ill leave it to build up to 3 cleans min. Its no issue to me as it all wotks out the same at the end of the working year.

I don't let them get to more than 2 cleans Mick. A lot of my customers are army, and move too often.
About 30% of my customers pay online, the rest pay on the day or I collect twice a month now. I've usually got about 500 quid owing at any one time.

i have to go and collect,    a few pay via paypal,      others even seemed surprised when i collect,   even after putting a slip in when ive cleaned them,   they either forget        or there partners put slip in bin and forgot,      sometimes when they owe twice and they forget,   thats the hardest part,        getting them to pay up twice when they were expecting to pay for just one clean,

i tell them to put it on callendar.

Got a couple now wanting to stop for winter,     its a good job everyone dosent think that way.       when i get more work in the areas near them ones,   i very rarelly take them back on.

i just tell them ive picked up more reliable work,   thankyou goodbye.

I only collect within walking distance and the rest by pay-pal, i don't mind losing 50p as fuel and time cost more.
But will be trying to get them on gocardless soon.

Collecting is for cowboys.
I get the customers to drop my dough off at the pub or the bookies. I leave my ladders propped up outside, so they know which one I'm in.

round software my friend!sorts any customers out who owe 2 or 3 cleans.i print a statement of account and post it through their door when cleaning/collecting .SAE/BACS.

I COLLECT ABOUT 3 TO 4 HOURS A MONTH.a lot less than i used to.

ANY CUSTOMERS WHO PAY BY BACS/SAE WHO HAVENT PAID AFTER 14 DAYS OF LAST CLEAN GET A TEXT REMINDER!

i find collecting is good for cashflow and gives me chance to keep good customer relations.good for very compact estate work.within an hour im coming home with £250-£300 in cash which is an instant boost to keeping down my debtlist with cheques dropping on my mat/BACS transfers throughout the week.

works well for me at the moment. ;)

We collect at least 6.  Hours a week. I've been a window cleaner 30 years and this has always been part of the job as far as I'm concerned. Yes it's a bit of a pain and definitely 6 hours we could would rather be at home, but at least 80% of customers out working during the day.
Don't want to sound negative but this will probably always be the case.

There are easier, more time efficient ways of getting payment though.

There is your 100% correct there m8, but after collecting for this long we r used to it and so r the customers. Probably a high percentage wouLd consider changer but there are a few who are probably too set on their ways.

I have a small portion of technophobic customers who can only deal in cash. Some folk are set in their ways.
About 60% pay online through bank transfer, ( free no bank charges ) got 40% who like cheques and to be collected or pay cash on the day.
