HDS Smoking!!!
« on: June 15, 2010, 09:08:44 pm »
Hi guys,

After a full day steaming cleaning my Karcher HDS 1000 DE has decided to start bellowing out thick smoke from the boiler flue!!!  ???
I think it may be dodgy fuel so have drained the tank and will put some new fuel in tommorow.
But was wondering if anyone has had any similar probs!!!

Cheers
Alan ;)

Mine does that when I run it out of fuel - I put it down to it injecting whats left but not having enough to fire up properly so have you checked the fuel filter ?

its probably a burner problem in that diesel is getting to the sparks but only lighting intermitantly causing it to smoke, it could be your spark plugs need a good cleaning or it might be a crack in one of them which stops it sparking properly could be other things too but this is a good place to start, but as BDCS says replace the fuel filter first.
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

Hi Alan
I had the same thing with mine clean the injectors and plug still smokes a bit only when you first pull the trigger

just a couple of things to bear in mind if you have put a flu on it they should be about a 1 inch gap at the boiler so it can draw air you can also adjust the amount of air the van blows
if you get stuck give Trafalgar cleaning a call they always very helpful
all the best

Mine packed up today - I checked the electrodes, the fuel filter and all the wires in the terminal box without finding the fault. I got it to fire up by frigging the flow switch which the supplier said was a reliable componant and seldom failed ! I shall be getting a new switch on order
