Which method do you use?
« on: May 28, 2006, 09:18:23 pm »
Simple question....

Just wondered how many still clean in traditional manner?
Please answer as what you use now, even if you are changing soon.

No arguements or discussions as to which is best.

I'm not expecting trad to be higher, as wfp'ers use the forum more, as they have more queries in general.
I think there's a few trad cleaners who read the threads though....

Obviously the first vote was mine!
Thanks, Rog. :)

WFP 1st floor and above, unless it's leaded or Georgian.

Squeegie ground floor.

I have a good number of accounts (about one day per month) that I still use ladders for; but only because I assess that they're not practicle for WFP.

I've put WFP but often use trad for lower floor windows and even for a couple of complete jobs where the frames are badly oxidised.

WFP for everything that would need a ladder. All the property if it's leaded or georgian.

Trad on ground floor if no climb at all. Only because it gives us variety in our work.

I also wfp everything.
I have some jobs that i will revert to trad again, but it is too soon after changing and the choice at the moment is wfp or nothing.
Trad insides of course.

mark

should add that i would definitely have been trad still if it wasn't for the forums.

WFP on everything high but  about 50/50 at ground level. Now I have the pole I do things like leaded that I never would have touched before so they all get done with the magic water.
The main reason for doing a lot of the ground floor windows with WFP is to bring the frames up rather than the windows which could be done trad.

Also, I don't agree with the idea that once a window has been cleaned WFP you can't switch back and forth between WFP and trad. As long as you don't use washing up liquid but use a "proper" window detergent and pure water it works OK.

As D Salkeld says, we are all still learning

wfp 99%
Insides still trad.
Ladder hasn't been off for about 2 months!
Trad for nearly 19 years.  Knees shot, elbows and wrists not much better, insteps collapsed.
wfp 8th month- did it for health and safety, didn't expect to make much more at end of day.
Mind you if I wasn't wfp I'd be trad ;D

Hi All
Just going over to pole (4 weeks ago). Its very slow and I use a lot of water to get the first clean to very good quality. But I can see the speed coming up. I hope to be faster with the pole than trad as I'm only 5 foot 4, I need a pointer on most ground floor windows and standoffs on most first floors. I'm as quick as most on windows I can reach. Most of my work is on mature estates with a mix of window types with tall windows and bays etc. I think I'll allways trad as some windows just are not suitable for the pole.

If the Mrs is working with me it's everything WFP except some doors,[leaks]
If I'm working alone it's tops, and the bottom ones I can't reach without a ladder.
I still trad oap's bunglows, even if I have to stand on my trusty milk crate, I prefer it to the pointy.Dai

Commercial work that's loads of windows - wfp
Shops and ground floor commercial - trad
1st and 2nd floor commercial - wfp

expensive resindential - trad with some hard to reach windows - wfp
'bash 'em out' houses - wfp

I reckon about a third of our work is wfp
