Totally fed up with hoselock connectors
« on: May 28, 2008, 12:16:50 pm »
They just leak, I have two on my DI vessel, and after fixing the leak on my shurflo, when the pressure builds up, the inlet hose lock connector starts dripping like a maniac, no matter how far I push the hose in, or tighten it, it just leaks. Not from where the connector is with the O ring, it comes from where the hose inserts. Only if I turn the shut off pressure on the varistream to 7 instead of C it kind of stops leaking. Sheesh.

I'm buying some John Guest fittings, I've had enough of this, I don't understand how every system fitter uses them since they are rubbish.

And they are the posh looking ones as well, which Ionics uses.

It's reinforced clear hose from Gardiners.

Pfft lol, I don't understand why I get all these little problems, in the beginning I laughed about it, now it's starting to annoy me.  ;D

dont know if they will suit your requirements but have a look for GEKA or GIKA fittings
not sure about spelling
if you want to join hose to hose with NO leaks upto 300psi then they are great
cheap too

Hi Ideal
Haven't you heard you will always be feeding the monster with WFP!
Forever buying and replacing - but does a good job, customers (most) love it, faster, safer.

We have always had drips, leaks, hoses blowing off on occasion, etc.

Hoselocks do leak. Get the orange and black jobs which are better.  Williamson  Pumps had some interesting leak proof stuff at Windex - try them.

Wfp is still developing so stick with it - IMO it will be the norm in a few years.

get shot of those pathetic hozelock fittings - our systems are plumbed in with push fit type fittings.  Cost less than hozelock, far better quality and much neater looking too.

Not one leak in over 4 years - not one.

never had any problems either with sucking air in or anything like that.

Bought some John Guess push type fittings off cleaningspot. But they failed to mention, that it only takes 1/2" Outer Diameter hose, not garden hose which is 1/2" ID. Fools.

Now I have to get a refund, and send it back.

Found the right ones on screwfix though! :

30 months wfp and no leaks.

I use a mixture of John Guest fittings with Hozellock fittings on Di tanks only.I use metal high pressurehose fittings on the end of my hose.

I use a 60 psi Flowjet pumps.

THE VAN FLOOR IS COVERED IN DUST AND DIRT

Time for a clean

I am not liking hoselocks at the mo, they seem to leak alot a very lot.

Going to get all new ones if they leak again they will all go back to the shop for a refund, the ones I got from purefreedom (cheaper than hoselock) not one leak as they broke I replaced with hoselock thinking higher price will last longer and be the same (god I seemed to be wrong) will find out when I replace the lot.

So it's basically a shrader/Ez-snap/whatever connector with a 1/2" screw end.

Interesting. :)

Ah it's these then. Bit expensive though wewt. Over £30 for 2 DI vessels, compared to a couple of quid for JG fittings. Hmmm

NITO DI fittings, best DI fittings there are.

Never leaks, very easy to take off.

I wouldn`t use hozelock fittings on the system i use John Guest,i only use 1 of these fittings on the end of the brass elbow of the hosereel.Has anyone found another fitting that goes on the end of the elbow without leaking.

Yep, Gardiner pole systems

tim was your van like with 400l tank i have berlingo1600cc 600hdi 1730 gross weight with 250l tank

For a 400 tank, you need 800Kg loading capacity, you can not fit a 400 on a 600. 800 Berlingo drives nicely with the 400l, no problems whatsoever. :)
