best diesel van for MPG ??????
« on: May 17, 2006, 10:33:55 pm »
I'm gonna buy a van for window cleaning, only been doing it for a year and my Rover 75 2.5 V6 Connoiseur, although being very comfortable,  is costing me a fortune in petrol!!!! Want to spend around £4000 on a van. There are so many to choose from . I'm thinking of going for the legendary Ford Escort van, but what's the best thing to get for MPG ???? I only need a small one.

Hi

Escort van is old hat - good and reliable once but way past it's sell by date. With £4000 to spend look at something with common diesel engine for economy and better resale value later.

First need to evalute what are you going to use it for ie WFP or Trad? Need to then decide payload (if WFP what size tank etc will you be carrying) and load volume required. What mileage per month/year is also next consideration and is it local or motorway. (nothing worse than a full payload on motorway with underpowered engine - ie Ford Escort.

Hope this helps.

Plenty of 03 (DTi?) Combos with around 30,000-ish miles on Auto Trader. Might be getting one meself. Some are without VAT too - what a load of crap that is ???

Hello Craig. The program is the old Coral Draw 8 but I use its photoshop section for web graphics. Cost about £500 new but within a few years it was in the bargain bins for £30.
