Any Gadgets To Stop Your Tank Overflowing
« on: May 16, 2006, 09:26:33 pm »

Can anyone help, flooded my van out today and soaked myself so had to go
back home to change. Is there a stop valve that can be fitted to your tank,
also is there anything to stop the hose connections shooting off the DI Vessel
when the water is stopped. Both are needed to make it work.

  Cheers

Hi there, I take it you mean your transferring from a static tank to your tank in the van via a submersible pump? If so you could fit a float switch to your van tank, it would activate when the level reaches the top, and you could connect it to your submersible pump and it would therefore stop the water flow when the tank's full.

Alternatively, if you are filling the van straight from your RO, you could fit a float valve to the van tank which would stop the water flow when full, then fit a pressure switch to the output of your ro and connect that to either the pump on your ro, or if you dont have a pumped ro, connect it to a solonoid shut-off valve on the mains water feeding your Ro.

Hope thats understandable

Ok, the float switch can be got from CPC, http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/partDetail.jsp?SKU=SN35504&N=411 , It can only switch 1amp, so on its own it could only be used with a submersible pump up to 230watts. If your pump needs more than 230Watts then you'll need to add a relay to increase the power handling.

The float valve can be got here http://www.ro-man.com/shop/product_info.php/cPath/23/products_id/63
the pressure switch here http://www.ro-man.com/shop/product_info.php/cPath/23/products_id/147
and the solonoid shut off valve can be got from any pumbing wholesaler.

That pressure switch can only be used with low voltage, ie 12-40volts dc, not mains 230V.
