No, is the short answer.
Mine used to be a gasman in a former life; I carry the pointer, [an ali one], slid into a metal loop that hangs down from the roof; it used to hold the gasmans steps, and the front end of the pointer rests on the shelf above the dash. It just fits, but I think it's a "touch" shorter than a wooden one.
I don't think that they all have the shelf fitted.
Anyway, I've just been and measured the inside of the van; you can get a pointer in, lying on its side, along the centre of the van and between the seats OK, but it will foul the gear lever.
You can lift the pointed end and rest it on the dash OK, though, and that will work.
