Wheelie bin cleaning
« on: August 17, 2004, 12:30:06 am »
Hi

What is the best design ( if any ) of water tank to install into a van?
My first thought was a polytank.
Any one else use these or is there a special type of water tank to use?
Your input would be most welcome

Due to the requirement by water authority's to recycle the water used in wheelie bin cleaning, You need a tank with filter systems and baffles to suit. Take a look at my web site to see the kind of tank set up we use.

Im being a bit naive but does every council have a certain criteria that you have to adhere to? & how would you actually go about getting approval for your spec of machine and procedures that you use.

Every council is slightly different but the basics are the same.

The councils environmental people will want to inspect the vehicle.

The local water authority will license you for disposal of waste water down a designated foul sewer.

The local environmental protection agency will license you to carry the waste water.

And in Scotland you will also need a Street traders license.

The protection agency's I.E. Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) insist that you recycle water and do not use total loss systems.

The local water authority I.E. Scottish water insist that all water is self contained in the vehicle any contamination allowed onto road and finally into storm drain is liable to a £20,000 fine per day of pollution.

So contact your local authority environmental department. Local water authority and local protection agency for further guidelines.

The equipment we work with complies to above but not all does so be careful if buying or building equipment.

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot George for the advise, would it be true to say that its a rather long winded procedure or in the event of purchasing equipment is it an avenue that the manufactures would take up on behalf of the customer?

If so is it an added expense or do you as a company offer this as an incentive to purchase from you.

It is a time consuming, we make sure our vehicles meet the spec required and can find out contact names and numbers. The council will need to see the vehicle so you would have to take delivery first. The license for foul water disposal is to one point so that point would have to be identified on your application so difficult for us do to. The waste carrying certificate is easy to apply for but has to be in your company name. I will happily give you as much help and advice as I can but their is no way round these points.

just had a browse at your site,Dominator seems to be the model I require but what kind of manufactures guarantee do you offer on parts etc and how long doe's it take from purchase to delivery?

Also do you hire or only sell outright?

Pressure washer, hydraulic cylinders rams etc come with standard manufactures warranty. Body comes with same. will check on actual time scales, all other parts are non moving so no problem with these.

Consumables filters, filter material we can supply or tell you where to buy.

Normal way is for you to finance complete package at your dealer we will take delivery of your new vehicle at our  local dealer have all works done before pdi. From taking delivery of vehicle we are looking at three to four weeks.

Doing it this way you pay finance company on receipt of vehicle so not out cash and not earning.

We only sell outright but it is possible we may have a second hand vehicle at some time Dependant on timing

Thanks for a quick reply, I would be very interested in a second hand setup if one comes in only money a bit tight at moment and would be looking to purchase new machine (if no seconds are available) some time next year.
