Algoclear
« on: May 21, 2016, 09:42:15 am »
Had a problem with my own front wall which had become badly infested with moss. The wall is about 7 years old, rendered and pebble dashed and for some reason has become a magnet for moss. My neighbours have similar walls and are unaffected.
Having seen good CIU reviews on Algoclear I thought I would give it a try. Applied it at 6/1 ratio ( amateur variant) and left it for a month to work, then worked the residue out using a twin lance.
I'm really impressed with the result!

Nice result, so what happened to the dead moss and grass ? Did it just curl up and blow away or have you washed the area down?

Would moss killer not have been cheaper?

We did a Tarmac carpark about 4 weeks ago, popped and have a look last week. I was amazed, all we did was scrape up the worst bits then spray down  a heavy Dose of  moss killer. It looked brilliant considering we never went back to remove the dead moss.

apart from the Really bad bits (where the moss was dead but still there) the carpark was moss free

It was sprayed on Tim and I covered the hedge with plastic sheeting just in case of any fallout. It was a windless morning when I did it so probably could have got away without the sheeting but why take the risk.......................

Mike I particularly wanted to try Algoclear as I had heard such good reports on it. The amateur variant was £45.00 for 5 litres and I only used 1 litre so it wasn't that expensive an exercise. Ideally I would have liked to have scraped most of the moss off before treating but being pepple dashed this wasn't an option. I did try a wire brush, which worked, but also took most of the aggregate out of the rendering so gave up on that idea.

Yes Darran I did clear up all the crud off the pavement before I took the "after" photo although I've since noticed the weeds are already coming back!
