What to do about keys?
« on: November 14, 2006, 08:54:58 pm »
I'm just writing my business plan to add domestic cleaning to my alterations and repairs shop and I need some advice about keys.  How do I ensure their security, should my cleaners come to the shop to collect them for each clean or should the cleaner be trusted to hold them?

Really depends on how much detail you go into checking references, crb check etc, dont forget in this game trust, reliability and quality work go a long way.

Thanks for the reply Rob.

I will be crb checking any employees and doing as many background checks as possible including taking up references.

it all depends how much insurance you want to pay

if you get key cover with your insurance, then the premium will alter depending on the number of sets and how the keys are controlled.

keys should never be labelled, but coded, and the coding kept away from the key box.

the other way you should look at this as well is,  how much is a set of lock changes to be done.

believe me eurolocks arent cheap, ( well they can be if you buy the cheese ones) but generally not
