i like seeing what you lot are up to, i just won't tolerate swearing or derogatory remarks as its not good for business, other than that i love it.

I don't mind the odd reference, but yesterday my page was jam packed with carpet cleaner's notifications and I couldn't see what my chav mates were getting up to ;D

there is no purpose for collecting likes. but i like to think ahead, and so do quite a few others by the looks of it.

No mate, thinking ahead? What do you mean Derek? What's the score with your page with all the other firms in the same trade being on your page? Do you get to be top of a Google search if your Facebook has a couple of hundred likes? I just wondered what all the "Likings" were for.  :-\

apart from the fun element and banter involved, apparently the Google gods give ranking based on, among other things,popularity and expertise in your chosen field.
Mr G thinks that if you are seen to be interacting among like minded people, you must be kind of imprortant.

When you get up to 25 likes you can claim your 'vanity' Facebook URL, so as long as it hasn't gone you can have www.facebook.com/ anything youwant. You see more and more companies advertising their Facebook sites than there main websites now, look out on the tv ads tonight.

The purpose of FB is to interact with your customers and to advertise to them and their friends, it's important to post regularly with interesting topics to keep your name fresh in their minds. With enough Likes and people visiting the site the FB page will rank in Google. So it IS important.
