Trying Rectus 21 fittings for the first time when I renew all my hoses next week. Anything I need to know?  I intend to also buy a protector for them- any recommendations for a protector?
Been using exceed slick connect 2 but they get stuck on everything!!🤔

Every few weeks give the rectus a spray with wd40.

I don’t bother with a protector. Very rarely uncouple them, last for months and months. Even the brass ones.

Do they accidentally uncouple if you drag them across the floor like Hozelock?
Also, are they leak free?

I use a tap and a rubber disc that purefreedom sell. This way the rectus doesn't get damaged, the tap takes a bit of a battering though but I bought a job lot of them. I disconnect the rectus every time I put the pole back in the van so that I can untangle the loops I've created in the pole hose. They will start to leak after a while. I have the female rectus on my pole hose and that stops any leaks from the pole hose. They sometimes uncouple after a lot of use but not very often.

I find they uncouple regularly without some kind of protector when dragging the hose along the ground…….I’m getting too old to constantly bend down and pick up the fittings so they’re free of the ground😩

Very rare to uncouple - maybe once there been battered for a while - never had one leak when connected - again when near end of use can dribble - usually a grit problem

Female on pole hose - I suppose you need it that way round as you use a tap to stop water draining - univalve does this so I use male on the pole hose

Splash - it won’t come out of the jets - it’s created a vacuum - only when air can pass all the way through would it empty

Never accidentally uncoupled one yet. Male on pole hose. The old easy snaps used to always uncouple and fall apart. I use a tap on holster with short section of pole hose to connection. I guess most of the time it’s clear of the ground.
Fit and forget mostly for me.
Some on here need a tap on the head.
Often spin the pole to iron out any twists, always the same direction.

I use the 26s. I find the 21s too small and fiddly, especially in winter with gloves on.

Just to clarify, I intend to keep them connected 99% of the time- I don't disconnect the two hoses after use, I reel the whole thing in as one. The only time I usually disconnect is to change pole which isn't very often, or to de-tangle the pole hose. However, it's important that when the connection is wound onto the reel between jobs it doesn't leak onto the van floor. I'll give them a shot, even the genuine ones are inexpensive!!👍
I'll probably sort a cover/protector thing out for them too.

All done and no leaks, quite impressed. My hose reel sits in a rubber tray with raised edges- it's from Aldi and it's actually made to put wet, muddy boots on. Works a treat for catching any drips. Even when the reel is leak free, if you wind a wet hose in, or snow etc it'll drip onto the floor. Might seem a bit weird but I pride myself on a bone dry van! No leaks, no speedliner etc!! 😁😁 With that in mind, believe it or not, virtually all my connections are only secured by plastic tie wraps!!
