Selling 4040
« on: April 18, 2017, 03:21:54 pm »
Im selling a 4040 housing but the old membrane is stuck in there. The plastic retaining rings are stuck, is there a unique way to remove these that are stuck in there preventing removal of the membrane?

TIA

Matt

Knock the black end caps in with a rubber mallet, or soft piece of wood so you don't damage them. That should give you space/clearance to pull out the white retaining rings.

I've got the white retaining rings out. Its the black ‘caps’ that are left that are stuck.

Any ideas?

If you have an old radiator valve they are the same thread, it should screw in and be easier to push/pull/tug to get out. (the output side) , once that is out you can knock the other side though with a broom handle or such. That make sense ? I think Markm has a you tube vid showing how the old rad valve screws in, but i guess other types could screw in too.
