Carpet Tiles
« on: September 07, 2010, 10:05:56 pm »
Hello,

I have come across red coloured carpet tiles. There is a red dust coming off the tiles. It would be on the end of chairs on your shoes etc...

I hooved it with industrial vac and it hepled but it is starting to come back again now..

What can be done for this? Has anyone come across this before?

Derek

Has it been cleaned in the last 3 months (using Hot Water Extraction) ?

The colour loss may be due to an excessive pH being left on the carpet, in which case applying an Acid Rinse (like Prochem F&F rinse) might help.

If it's loose fibres rather than colour run, I suspect the tiles are damaged beyond repair, especially if fibres are still coming off after an heavy vac.

Very much doubt it. it is in an office block that was unused for long time. Never ever been cleaned before.

i'd say its loose fibres. There was about 1/4 inch of fibre/dust in bottom of vac. What causes this? I wouldn't say these tiles are more than 5 yrs old..

No bother thanks.. I've got the contract for the weekly clean. so hopefully hooving it once a week will keep the fibres down..
