Not sure why you think it is daylight robbery to be honest.
Any professional company paying all the right insurances and investing in training and maintenance on kit needs to turn over a decent amount of money to run effectively and profitably.
£450 a day (I didn't mention anywhere near £600) has to cover all of this and then pay wages too.  £450 a day is not the amount of money received by the individual (a common misconception) but the amount received by the company to cover all of its overheads and wages.

If I could be bothered, I would list the breakdown here but I am sure that everyone (as professional, fully insured and trained companies) is aware of the potential running costs of a business.

The working day doesn't stop when the PW stops, what about teh paper work, the quotes the endless telephone calls at night etc etc

8 hrs turns into 10 easily, now 10 hrs x £30 looks underpaid now doesn't it?
