doing bottoms?
« on: August 20, 2006, 02:03:43 pm »
another idot question!!
does anyone wait for the tops to stop dripping when do the bottoms wfp or do you just go straight ahead and do the bottoms after the tops.

at the moment i am wasting alot of time running around houses doing all tops first and then going back to the start and doing bottoms after the dripping has finished. I am worried about water running off of brickwork/rendering contaminating the bottom windows. is this necessary?

thanks again
greg

why not use a waterstop connector then once you have finished the tops just disconnect or use a flow control valve.

i do use a flow control valve so turn off the flow inbetween windows. i meant the water that is dripping off the top sills after the top windows have been cleaned.

sorry i misread your post.
by the time you get the top finished and walk back round to where you started it'll be fine to start the bottoms.

thought the heading would get a laugh!

the walking back round the house is the bit I am trying to cut out. so ideally i would like to do the top windows at the front and then immediately clean the bottom windows then go round to the back of the house and do the same. does anyone else clean like this?

as opposed to clean the tops at the front then going to the back and cleaning the tops, then going back to the front to clean the bottoms and then finally round the back again to clean the bottoms there. it seems to be a lot of time wasted when totalled up at the end of the week.

hi

i just start with top left then top right

bottom left then bottom right

that way you give yourself 20 seconds for drips to stop.

thats something that affects everyone when they change over, you just have to feel more confident in order to walk away, something that will only come with time.  on some props we do its only a matter of rinsong - no brushing needed!!

a lot of the water gathers on the sill so turn your water off then rub your brush along the sill to clear the water off it saves a lot of time that way
