I just picked up a one off clean to clean the glass partitions of 6 sets of escalators and the glass banisters around them. You know the typical stuff you find in a department store. sorry dont have any pics.

Anyway the job has to be done from 6pm to 6am, i quoted for two blokes working the whole 12 hours at £30 an hour. that comes to £360 for a nights work. When i told the bloke this he almost had a heart attack but had no choice but to accept cos the job is tommorrow night. He said he thought it would only cost £200. yeah right!!

What would you guys charge to work those kind of hours?

when i worked nights in a factory on continental shift system 3 x 12hr shifts a week, 1 week nights next week days, my earnings before tax £190 a night.

I would be charging in the same region as you have.

I also offer a rebate system, this allows me to cover for extras as well as give the customer a possible rebate should we do the job quicker than expected.

I know some of you will say if he is happy with the price then charge it, my attitude is if I am honest and up front I can look to get repeat business.

As long as I make my hourly rate and cover my expenses then thats business.

The amount you charge for night work has to be more than your day rate.
What ever you charge per hour for days I would double it.

we do a fair bit of night work - believeme unless you are getting good moneyten leave it - you will be tired the next day so you lose maybe half a day.

I have been cleaning for over ten years now , and have never been asked to do any nightwork , im mainly domestic but do have some commercial . i wouldnt do it , but would ask a couple of the boys if they fancied it , and then price accordingly

the only night job i have had is jstwashing in cardiff city center and it HAD to be SUNDAY morning! between 5am - 8am!
I did it every 4 weeks. It only took half an hour and they paid £150. I woudnt concider doing it for any less, nevertheless, not bad money for 30 mins!!
