Just going through quotes today for Employer Liability ( day off sick ) and
it's amazing the amount of firms that will not cover window cleaners. A lot
of times I've been asked are you using WFP or ladders.
Told them I use WFP most of the time but the odd time only use the ladder.
The answer in return has been no sorry cannot insure you for use of ladders
but WFP we can insure you for. Speaking to the broker he told me a lot of
insurers are now pulling out covering window cleaners using ladders.
Public Liability seems to be no problem but Employer Liability seems to be
very anti ladders.
Could this be a trend on things to come, and before Squeeks jumps down
my throat ;D this is not another anti ladder topic.
Just my findings today.

Forgot to add spotted in small print on a lot of quotes, height restrictions
some with no more than 3 stories high. They don't tell you that when you
take it out, just hide it in the small print.
They are getting crafty.

I got my Employer Liability from these
http://www.simplybusiness.co.uk/
I am pleased with the price
-
Yip,
They seem to be cheapest around £520, can't see any hidden clauses.
Thanks

When I submited my online form the next day I had a phone call from a sales person who was dealing with my quote . We went over exactly what I wanted and it was as easy as that
-
John,
Who is the insurance company covering you as these are just a broker, on
my quote it is Icon Insurance. However this is a website I came accross, did
not have window cleaning as a trade for their quotes ???.
Am going to look into this further before I commit, need to know if there
is anything hidden as I found on other quotes.

I used this link
Try this
http://www.xbridge.co.uk/main?__action=tab&sel=my
If you click on Business Insurance then
Tradesmen,
then select a trade,
Then show all trades
Then scroll down to window cleaners
Then you can fill in the quote

I've used Ryan Insurance for a couple of years - they specialise in trades such as window cleaners.
Their tel no. is 0870 754 9390.
There's an excess (3rd party properry damage) of £100, but the premium is under £100.

Cheers Guys,
Have just received the best offer so will go with it, the only thing it does
not cover the use of ladders only WFP. I will do the odd ladder job myself
as I am covered on my policy:-
£2m Public
£10m Employer
All for £320, bargain, got it through Assure-uk.co.uk, policy with AXA.
Cheers

i am with AXA too very cheap!
-
I would double check what AXA are insuring you for, when i enquired 8 months ago they would not insure window cleaners
-
Dave,
You are right in one way, if you contacted AXA diect they wil inform you they
do not insure window cleaners.
However brokers will give you insurance with AXA, only with WFP and not
ladders ???
Have found this on other quotes through brokers, so you think you could save
yourself money by going direct to the insurance company.
The answer I got ' we do not insure window cleaners' ???
Don't ask me how this works but a bit puzzling.

insurance companies work on a different planet sometimes-on my van insurance they gave me a cheaper quote for ANY DRIVER over 25 as opposed to 2 named drivers aged 37 &48!!!!
