Whats the best hot pressure washer for £3000- £4000 ??
« on: January 18, 2013, 12:10:46 pm »
Hi,

Ive been looking around to get a new hot water pressure washer lately,
I want to spend about £ 3000- £4000 looked at all different sorts,
listened to different advice from different people,
Ive currently got a Honda gx 340 11 h.p 200 bar, 15lpm cold with twin lance & 30 metres of hose,
Thought about getting a boiler to make it hot, then thought im better off getting
a second hot water machine then can have 2 operators,
Want to use it for, buildings, pavements, gum, graffiti, etc.
now getting fed up keep looking and cant make mind up,
What do you recommend? why?

Tim.

You looking at brand new?

Im not sure you'll get a two man machine for that money new.. Rob from M-Clean has got a couple of two man setups, he should be able to point you in the right direction. I think all diesel machines that are hot, are basically just diesel machines with boilers. If you want a two man set up you need to look at the LPM of the pump to see weather you can split the flow and still have enough to be decent.

The THOR machines look good.. or a trailer mount? You could build your own trailer setup like Blastaway, and im in the process of building one, im just waiting for a decent jetter to come up with a decent HP engine.. then just a boilet and some hose reels and your laughing..

I saw this post and then went onto Ebay to look through the searches - your right there is nothing on there.

There has been a few over the last month, the Falch, one from Wrightway and one or two others - I know because I look everyday.

For your money you are going to have to upgrade the pump (for this you need the grunt from the engine) on a hot washer or go down the route of a drain jetter and then split the flow rate but you wont have heat.

If you do go down the drain jetter route you will need a bypass to reduce the flow so that the boiler wont be overloaded with water, this will give you a one man heat option, alternatively buy two hotboxes and you would still need to reduce the flow.

Why is heat so important?

We don't use heat that much - graffiti is generally a chemical application first and most chewing gum will come off with the right flow rate on cold. - I don't know that 15 LPM will do this though.

Dont need a 2 man machine, just a second machine to the one i already have.
Thought about a boiler to put on my existing machine and another machine for second man
to use.
Or, just have 1 cold machine & 1 Hot machine?

Borrowed a hot machine for a lot of gum removal, and it obliterated the gum.
Used a Hot machine on some graffiti and that came off easy,
My cold machine wont do either jobs as easily as hot will.
Ive got a second guy so want 2 machines,
seen the boilers you can get off ebay not sure if they any good?
my machines got one of them twin lances,
would it be better with a boiler and normal lance with turbo nozzle.
Then get second machine with bigger flow pump.

I've always hated those twin lances.. Ive got small quick releases on the ends of all my lances, can swap from a turbo, to a fan, to a high flow chem nozzle in seconds..

Sounds like you would be better off getting a nice hi HP machine, with a decent flow pump on it.. 21lpm is good for alot of stuff.. and getting a boiler to go on it, or even get a hotbox that you could change between machines.

A good turbo nozzle cant be beaten for most things..

If you have a budget of £4000.00 I would get a secondhand drain jetter, a hotbox and a splitter and two additional hose reels.

Then you can do hot, twin operator with all the flow and pressure you will ever need and do drain jetting

You could also look at importing the machine Rob has, Hot & Mighty just the machine not the trailer set-up in it's original form that Rob bought from me, Don't think £4K will cover it, but if you were to go up a bit in price you'd be getting a decent bit of kit.

There are several on Ebay, all worth buying. Don't go for a Harben - as I don't think you can retrofit a return to tank on them.

Liam 446 does some good ones, anything around 8/10 gallons per minute will split down to two man operation quite nicely

8GPM is 35 LPM
10GPM is 45 LPM
12 GPM is 54 LPM all off the top of my head.

I have four 15LPM Yanmars, the Thor, the H & M, a Robojet drain jetter @ 30LPM, and two petrol pressure washers.

I wouldn't entertain anything below 35LPM now, even that split to two man is just enough but will let you down on major cleaning.

There is a 18GPM machine on Ebay 81.8 litres per minute, split down to 40LPM for two operators, an absolute brute but try keeping it supplied with water.

Post up any queries, glad to help

Not a looker but 170974578971 Item number: £1500.00

Could easily be tidied up and if you are looking to split for twin operator, 22LPM each gun

I have a Harben and they can have an unloader fitted as the stock tank has the fitting to plumb the return line in. The Factory is in ENGLAND and you can ring up for advice or go there - it has "made in England" cast into the pump. The engine was build in the land of the whale murderers though ::)

I have a couple of petrol Kohler going spare one fitted for LPG with Speck pumps I think.
I have a lavor boiler on a covered trolley with full controls, tank etc which has done very little work. Very soon I'm building a new pressure washing trailer which is where the pump will come from, the pressure washer is now 21 lpm which is why the boiler is spare and will be upgraded.

Never got round to that call, Will do next week

The H&M is without doubt a phenomenal machine and as a single operator it is mind blowing, even with the upgrade to a 35LPM pump.

Split to twin operator it doesn't have the grunt i have come to expect but there aren't many hot machines out there that will do 35LPM and it will clean anything.

The Thor is wow and split down it is still wow - but it is a cold machine.

I am buying a machine in the next couple of weeks - it will be a drain jetter around 12GPM - 54LPM. I do't have the same requirements as I have the H&M (twin operator) and a hotbox so can go more for brute force than heat.

There are so many variables to take into account. I will be putting heat into this vehicle and at the same time retro fitting recycling into the Iveco.

No thats the jump jet - that causes the hose to pulse which allows you to jet further as the hose crawls. The unloader is just a big beast and gets a very hard life with those flows, I've not got one on mine but I've seen them at the depot and they are just clamped to the chassis.

A lot of my reasoning on not going for Harben was because you couldn't return the water to tank.

Before I buy I will speak to them and go from there, they are a great machine. Any running problems?

Agree with you, with the pump I had, 23-28 Lts per min splitting down to 2 persons it loses it grunt, but they do a bigger pump set-up hence the reason I said he would have to spend more if he needs mass out-put like yourself.
