our builders claen tender response runs to about 100 pages, it has taken time and effort to get right, and works very very well.

i do wonder what other companies are sending in their responses.

Yea,

Ours run to about 50 odd A4 pages once we have included all the COSSH, H&S stuff, method statements etc.  Then all the tender paperwork the client has sent out for signature.  Overall about 75 A4 shhets in each tender pack

There's always something to learn  :)

hi
I've just been onto the internet and found another cleaning website that tallies the price up which should give you an idea on what to charge your customers and what to put down onto your tender for a builders clean - check it out see what you think.

                                          kind regards Wil-clean

Not good for everyone, bearing in mind this calculator is set for London, if I tried to charge those prices in the Birmingham area I certainly would not get any work!!!!

it might be set to the london area but if you charge £100 less you should be alright.

hi there

i wouldnt even bother looking at that link above

it bears no resemblence at all to build cleaning

clients want either two or three visits.

build, reclean and sparkle clean

or build clean and then sparkle

you will get a tender pack from the client, which will include all the plans, a site plan a build plan, and a specificatin,a long with the terms and conditions that you will accept if you get the wrk, you will also get a detail of their payment procedure.

there will also be a health and safety questionnaire in there, you need to complete that.  some developers are now using online H and S assessmenr, fully automated.  if you dont score a certain level, there you wont get the work.

you will also be asked to send back relevant literature. COSHH, method statements, risk assessments, insurance sertificates , and CIS details.

there may even be a matrix for the plot pricing for you to complete.

a 3 bed house build clean will be approx £170-£190
reclean approx £90
sparkle approx £60

all site staff will also need CSCS cards.

there is a psychology with tender responses, the more the better, the more tender blurb, that you include, the less they will read.

in essence the QS will only look at the price to start off with, when they do their financial analysis, they will then look at the health and safety questionaire and see if you achieve the minimum set standards.

i hope that helps

regards

martin

You are spot on Martin.

The developer sends YOU the tender pack, not the other way round.

I have said this before:
Wash your van, get your cleanest hi-viz, steelies and hard hat and get out there and introduce yourself to the site you are after. Politely ask the name and address of the QS and write to him requesting inclusion onto his 'Approved Subcontractor List' and a tender pack for the site. Send all your insurances, CIS (not required now) health & safety policy, risk assessements, method statements and a very brief description about your business.

It should not run to more than 10 pages in total, and only contain necessary information.

I would like to see this 'Tender Pack' floating around!

Does anyone have a copy of a Builders clean tender from a national Company they could share with the people who have asked to see one ?

It would be nice to see a working copy of what you can expect to receive and what sort of questions they ask you to complete.

Could you please post it in the Documents to Download Section   :)

hi there

i dont want t sound negative, but

most national builders only send out their tender packs to suppliers on their approved list, suppliers that have met the criteria.  and therefore that information isnt really for the public domain.

once a prospective supplier is approved then the relevant info is sent out to them

as has already been stated on here there is not really a tender pack that would be of any use to anyone not already an approved contractor.
most packs contain full specifications for all trades and a full set of mainly pretty useless  plans.
Process is simple approach QS from company you will be asked to complete H&S questionaire pass this and you will become an approved contractor and then recieve builders tender information pack for new sites.
existing sites are unlikely to produce good results from cold calling as most major housebuilders will have allocated all trades before the site even starts.
We have been in this field for years now good profits to be had but be carefull of poor site mangers who will either give you no notice to book cleans in or will allow you to turn up and their unit won't be ready wasted journey and the problem of trying to juggle the rest of your week to fit it in.
