Fish / Chip Shop Ceramic Tile Cleaning
« on: September 18, 2005, 04:18:29 pm »
Can anyone help out here with a client/customer of mine who own and run a traditional fish and chip
fast food shop.I`m their window cleaner who just does their windows but the owner has asked me the
best and most thorough way of cleaning the shops ceramic tiles that cover the entire shop(walls and
ceiling).Up to now the owner has used various cloths and cleaners but in every case ends up with a
`smeary` finish. He`s also having trouble with the grouting that discolours very easily. All help and
replies much appreciated which I will pass on in due course.

Hi,

Not many of people on this forum would agree with this advice. But to clean tiles my girls use flash with bleach and scrub down with a mild scourer. Then we plosh on neutral car polish. It works for us and our clients love it!!!

hi there,

BLEACH AND FLASH, ventilate well thats what i would say.

dont go near it.

back to the floor,  a strong alkaline cleaner, to degrease, would make life easier.

I think is sounds like the smear at the end is grease. We would use 5 gallons of water, basic dishsoap, and TSP Instead of automatically wiping let the solutions sit for a while then wipe dry. Not sure if you have TSP , but it has always done the trick for us :)

Hi there,

When I moved into my property the walls were thick with grease. I used a commercial degreaser and a steamer  then buffed with a lint free cloth wow what a shine..
