Cleaning Interior Window Film Tint
« on: November 27, 2009, 06:03:13 am »
Just wondered what you fella`s do when cleaning inside glass
that’s had window film installed on it?
I`ve got some to do on a large commercial account I have next
Week, and it`s fairly liberally covered in mainly fingerprints from
The office staff opening and closing etc. during the warm summer
Days.
In the past,I`ve used a normal set up of strip washer/squeegee with
Really poor results in as much as the film very very easily leaves
Fine scratch marks due to the softness of the window film material.
On one job I had a few years ago I did some and when the sun shone
Directly on them they looked really `grotti`.
( It`s why the owners had it installed as all do obviously)
I`ve found even using a new strip washer sleeve makes no difference.
All comments before next Tuesday when I start the job and advice
Much appreciated.

Hi Lewis,

Only time for a brief reply as I gotta get into work!!!

I've an office I do every month with this kind of film on many of the windows, although they are big panes I don't use the squeegee, I use a hand sprayer with a generic window cleaning spray (any of the main supermarkets own brand ones) and buff clean with a flat weave microfibre cloth.

for something like this they are better than scrim as they are a much softer material.

When the sun is at the right angle, all kinds of flaws in the coating show up anyway, but for me at least, done this way I've noticed minimal (if anything at all) damage to the surface.

Once an internal office type clean has been done, keeping them clean is child's play, and to be honest, you can whip through them ewasily as fast as you can with an applicator and a squeegee.

I had thought about that, tried it tentatively also,I think
Atmospheric dust and particles has a lot to do with it.
I`m possibly being too fussey, but if the owners point
It out,it`s a bit like scratched glass,ya looking down both
Barrels at a replacement claim.!
