WCW Backpack
« on: May 15, 2008, 01:25:40 pm »
Just for those who were interested, the WCW Backpack pump is 80psi, not 40psi as previous mentioned and explains why it is outperforming the Shureflo!

Luke, spare parts are now available!
now we are talking, i might get one as a spare, the only fault i see with it, is it is not transparent, like the shurflo to see the water level going down, or you will end up with air traps, or knacker the pump if it goes dry,

The wcw backpack looks a bit naff though, don't you think?

The Shurflo has got a carrying handle, in case any one is about to add that it hasn't, and its neatly tucked behind the back pad.

You don't need a to add a flow controller, as it has four speed settings, and setting number 1  is plenty powerful enough, even working at 30 feet.  Setting four is ridiculous!

Don't forget the shurflo holds more like 18-19 litres, and you can get to the switch whilst its on your back.

One thing I find a bit annoying is that when the thing is sat on the ground or on a trolley, you can't easily get to the switch as it's underneath, so wcw is better in this application.

After having the wcw backpack for a month i can say its pros far out weigh the cons. Shurflos would play up ALL the time& it made using it a real pain!

I have got 2 backpacks sat in the shed, neither use nor ornament.

I bought them for a job then realised they have got an outside tap so that plan failed misreably.

Thought psi rating was just the cut off pressure of the pump not how powerful the pump itself is, that's down to the flow rate (lpm) surely.
If so what are the lpm figures?

The PSI or Bar rating is the force that the  particular pump will pressurise the water up  to.
The flow rate is the amount of water pushed out per minute at full open flow.

You could have a 30 lpm pump that has only 30 psi or conversly a 1 lpm pump that has 160 psi.

Maybe lacking in the looks department but.....

Better pump
Lumo yellow means hi-vis = safer!
So far, its proved much more reliable than the Shureflo

and

Half the price!!

ive got to agree the wcw backpack is better than shurflo ive used both packs and wcw comes out top for me .
