Do you have any health issues that effect your work?
« on: November 11, 2023, 07:37:35 pm »
From seeing the other post on ‘left side stomach pain’ I wondered what ailments you lot are carrying.

I’m pretty healthy, but do have a slightly bulging disc that can flare up from time to time if I’m not careful lifting. It’s agony when it goes for a couple of days.

I tore a ligament in left wrist in a cycling accident a few years ago. That has pretty much completely recovered, but i had to take a month off work. The MRI scan was interesting to see!

Sometimes get periods of fatigue, at one point convinced something wasn’t right, blood tests all good. But did have raised cortisol from long standing stress due to family issues. This is now resolved.

As an observation, I’m always surprised at how many tablets I see on customers inside kitchen window sills etc.

What about you lot?

I sometimes get pain in my left upper back shoulder blade area.   I suspect it's caused by using the WFP to clean hard to reach windows, awkward ones above conservatories/flat roofs etc.

I can’t sit down properly on fridays due to the swelling on my right buttock. Once I’ve been to the bank it goes away.

Neck pain and  arthritis in my left shoulder, both rsi window cleaning ailments. How the government thinks people with physical jobs can carry on working past  present state pension age shows how far these suit wearing office dwellers are from the real world. and our job is no where near as physical as some trades.

Theres a local windy (havnt seen him for a long time so may have packed in) who has one arm and has been shining for years both trad and wfp. An absolute inspiration , really dont know how hes adapted to using a pole, trad yes but poling!!

Always shining

Inguinal groin hernia. Had it for 3-4 months. Waiting for surgery. Was working in absolute incredible pain then bought a ‘truss thing on line’ and can work fine with no pain at all!

I've worked through 35 summers with no real problems until I had my second COVID shot.

Shortly afterward and despite being a fit, non-smoking, non-drinking, very active person I had some issues with my heart
These resolved over three or four months and I eventually got back to a decent level of fitness within a year.

Aside from general wear and tear, I'm now not able to effectively regulate my body temperature.
I was ill a number of times over the summer as I seem to get the human equivalent of 'thermal runaway'.

If it's too hot I'm unable to effectively cool down, despite drinking 2-3 litres of water, wearing a hat, factor 50 sun cream and trying to stay in the shade.

Never really liked it too hot but now just can't cope with it.

Did a job on Friday, it was properly cold, which last took me three hours in the summer heat and knocked an hour off.
No problems at all.

Didn’t go anywhere near that Jab. Thankfully.

I hope you get back to full health, and the temp regulation gets better, that must be very frustrating and uncomfortable!

Tennis elbow that flares up every now and then, pain in neck that’s not too bad atm , painful fingers that lock up at night again not too bad at the moment .  Could call it typical window cleaning wear and tear .
I dont know if it’s the placebo effect or not but since wearing a strong magnetic wrist band my fingers and hand aren’t as bad and don’t lock up anymore . I also take glucosamine, cod liver oil, vit d, turmeric

Thank you very much, I appreciate that.

Yes, I found that five of my customers had the same reaction - two of whom I met on hospital visits  ;D

We were all told officially the same: It was just a bizarre coincidence and in no way linked to any vaccines.

That would be all six of us - all with no prior heart issues - or major issues of any sort - all at the same time and all active healthy people.

Definition of Osteoarthritis....

 "Cause of Osteoarthritis
Aging.
Being overweight or obese.
History of injury or surgery to a joint.
Overuse from repetitive movements of the joint.
Joints that do not form correctly.
Family history of osteoarthritis. "

so yes, it can be caused by repetition, including window cleaning.

Brand new MRNA technology, absolutely no long term data - no thanks!

My wife works for NHS, didn’t take Jab along the with 100,000 others, she saw too many young men with heart issues after the jabs. Some deaths, and woman with menstrual issues.

We had covid, and dealt absolutely fine with it, so didn’t need the jab anyway. The whole thing was ludicrous.

Yes covid was bad for some, but for young people and healthy people, it did not warrant a brand new vaccine technology that hardly works and had serious side effects for many.

Money talks though.

Not anti vax, had all other vaccines, and my kids have had all their routine vaccines.

I have it in my knees and right elbow and a few fingers  the specialist told me it’s a breakdown of the cartilage on the bone joints caused by aging  and inherited from other family members, when I suggests work he said no it isn’t that .

Probably isnt work related in your knees unless you were using ladders for a long time, My shoulder certainly is  as advised by my GP, im right handed and its the left arm/shoulder that takes the weight and gets raised above head height. I wore my knees out in my last job at Anglian Water, kneeling down all the time, had to have an op. Window cleaning (wfp) was a great move from that point of view, stood all day,no bending.

The doctor said my knee issues were caused from when I was in the Motor trade laying on cold wet floors for  16 years , but my mother had it from age 45 so he felt it’s also inherited. I find if I take time off work on holiday for 2-3 weeks I gradually seize  up , I find work helps keep me keep supple  , damp weather makes it much worse pain and stiff joints .

Carpal tunnel in both hands but I don't seem to be suffering with it at the moment.

Even playing drums for an hour most days doesn't seem to be affecting me.

Window cleaning, gym 3 times a weeks and drumming probably puts a fair bit of stress on my body but I also know how to relax and recover too.

Eating a mainly real food diet with minimal UPF has made a massive difference in my energy levels and my general health.

I have tweaked my back in years previous but no aggravating joint issues generally....

At 52 I know I will have to slow down a bit as I age but I still have my gym sessions where I absolutely smash my body to bits because it feels good just not every session.
price higher/work harder!

Can highly recommend a guided injection of Durolane if it's mild to moderate osteoarthritis in  knee, I paid for a private MRI scan in Cheltenham which showed some osteoarthritis in my left knee,  I paid a specialist to use a guided injection of Durolane which in all honesty has kept me pain free and not even thinking about my knee for the past seven months.

Golfers elbow occasionally comes back to haunt me, the joys of getting old  :)
