From seeing the other post on ‘left side stomach pain’ I wondered what ailments you lot are carrying.
I’m pretty healthy, but do have a slightly bulging disc that can flare up from time to time if I’m not careful lifting. It’s agony when it goes for a couple of days.
I tore a ligament in left wrist in a cycling accident a few years ago. That has pretty much completely recovered, but i had to take a month off work. The MRI scan was interesting to see!
Sometimes get periods of fatigue, at one point convinced something wasn’t right, blood tests all good. But did have raised cortisol from long standing stress due to family issues. This is now resolved.
As an observation, I’m always surprised at how many tablets I see on customers inside kitchen window sills etc.
What about you lot?
-
I sometimes get pain in my left upper back shoulder blade area. I suspect it's caused by using the WFP to clean hard to reach windows, awkward ones above conservatories/flat roofs etc.
-
I can’t sit down properly on fridays due to the swelling on my right buttock. Once I’ve been to the bank it goes away.
-
Neck pain and arthritis in my left shoulder, both rsi window cleaning ailments. How the government thinks people with physical jobs can carry on working past present state pension age shows how far these suit wearing office dwellers are from the real world. and our job is no where near as physical as some trades.
Theres a local windy (havnt seen him for a long time so may have packed in) who has one arm and has been shining for years both trad and wfp. An absolute inspiration , really dont know how hes adapted to using a pole, trad yes but poling!!
-
Inguinal groin hernia. Had it for 3-4 months. Waiting for surgery. Was working in absolute incredible pain then bought a ‘truss thing on line’ and can work fine with no pain at all!

I've worked through 35 summers with no real problems until I had my second COVID shot.
Shortly afterward and despite being a fit, non-smoking, non-drinking, very active person I had some issues with my heart
These resolved over three or four months and I eventually got back to a decent level of fitness within a year.
Aside from general wear and tear, I'm now not able to effectively regulate my body temperature.
I was ill a number of times over the summer as I seem to get the human equivalent of 'thermal runaway'.
If it's too hot I'm unable to effectively cool down, despite drinking 2-3 litres of water, wearing a hat, factor 50 sun cream and trying to stay in the shade.
Never really liked it too hot but now just can't cope with it.
Did a job on Friday, it was properly cold, which last took me three hours in the summer heat and knocked an hour off.
No problems at all.

Didn’t go anywhere near that Jab. Thankfully.
I hope you get back to full health, and the temp regulation gets better, that must be very frustrating and uncomfortable!

Tennis elbow that flares up every now and then, pain in neck that’s not too bad atm , painful fingers that lock up at night again not too bad at the moment . Could call it typical window cleaning wear and tear .
I dont know if it’s the placebo effect or not but since wearing a strong magnetic wrist band my fingers and hand aren’t as bad and don’t lock up anymore . I also take glucosamine, cod liver oil, vit d, turmeric

Yes, I found that five of my customers had the same reaction - two of whom I met on hospital visits ;D
We were all told officially the same: It was just a bizarre coincidence and in no way linked to any vaccines.
That would be all six of us - all with no prior heart issues - or major issues of any sort - all at the same time and all active healthy people.
Makes you reappraise everything you think you know.

Arthritis is a debilitating thing but not caused by rsi or window cleaning , it’s caused by growths on the joint structures
Definition of Osteoarthritis....
"Cause of Osteoarthritis
Aging.
Being overweight or obese.
History of injury or surgery to a joint.
Overuse from repetitive movements of the joint.
Joints that do not form correctly.
Family history of osteoarthritis. "
so yes, it can be caused by repetition, including window cleaning.

Brand new MRNA technology, absolutely no long term data - no thanks!
My wife works for NHS, didn’t take Jab along the with 100,000 others, she saw too many young men with heart issues after the jabs. Some deaths, and woman with menstrual issues.
We had covid, and dealt absolutely fine with it, so didn’t need the jab anyway. The whole thing was ludicrous.
Yes covid was bad for some, but for young people and healthy people, it did not warrant a brand new vaccine technology that hardly works and had serious side effects for many.
Money talks though.
Not anti vax, had all other vaccines, and my kids have had all their routine vaccines.

I have it in my knees and right elbow and a few fingers the specialist told me it’s a breakdown of the cartilage on the bone joints caused by aging and inherited from other family members, when I suggests work he said no it isn’t that .

Probably isnt work related in your knees unless you were using ladders for a long time, My shoulder certainly is as advised by my GP, im right handed and its the left arm/shoulder that takes the weight and gets raised above head height. I wore my knees out in my last job at Anglian Water, kneeling down all the time, had to have an op. Window cleaning (wfp) was a great move from that point of view, stood all day,no bending.

The doctor said my knee issues were caused from when I was in the Motor trade laying on cold wet floors for 16 years , but my mother had it from age 45 so he felt it’s also inherited. I find if I take time off work on holiday for 2-3 weeks I gradually seize up , I find work helps keep me keep supple , damp weather makes it much worse pain and stiff joints .

Carpal tunnel in both hands but I don't seem to be suffering with it at the moment.
Even playing drums for an hour most days doesn't seem to be affecting me.
Window cleaning, gym 3 times a weeks and drumming probably puts a fair bit of stress on my body but I also know how to relax and recover too.
Eating a mainly real food diet with minimal UPF has made a massive difference in my energy levels and my general health.
I have tweaked my back in years previous but no aggravating joint issues generally....
At 52 I know I will have to slow down a bit as I age but I still have my gym sessions where I absolutely smash my body to bits because it feels good just not every session.
-
Can highly recommend a guided injection of Durolane if it's mild to moderate osteoarthritis in knee, I paid for a private MRI scan in Cheltenham which showed some osteoarthritis in my left knee, I paid a specialist to use a guided injection of Durolane which in all honesty has kept me pain free and not even thinking about my knee for the past seven months.
-
Golfers elbow occasionally comes back to haunt me, the joys of getting old :)

I’d have health issues if I ate that for breakfast!
More dangerous than a gas boiler!

I have general aches and pains and a weak lower back but I usually set that off doing gym or decorating rather than windows.
It sucks getting old thats for sure

Deadlifts will help....start off with dumbbells RDLs,sumo variations too.
Using a hexbar instead of a barbell too if you dont want to put too much strain on your back.
The truth is your not old!it's your diet you need to fix.once you properly feed the body with real food you ll feel 20 years younger mate.👍

Mental health issues are worse than any physical ailment anyway in this job. Nothing like a lonely days window cleaning in dark crappy weather to make you want to top yourself

Have been taking this for about a year now.
Prednisolone is a medicine that belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids.
Prednisolone helps reduce inflammation in your body, treating many conditions, but not curing them.
Prednisolone is commonly used to treat some types of arthritis, asthma, skin problems and autoimmune diseases.

Side effects are exactly that. Side effects. They may affect 1 in 100 people. Guess what that also means.

I'm inclined to agree generally with you on this one.
I'm sure it's only available on prescription in OZ and HMan is only taking it because he needs to.
Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what drugs you are taking, there are side effects. The question that pill poppers often don't do is read about the side effects. The other issue is also that doctors can over prescribe medication. So each of us need to be aware of this and ask ourselves if we really do need the medication. Can a change of diet help with some medical issues?
My son's father-in-law is a diabetic. He still eats all the sweet things he shouldn't. But to counteract his diet, he is now on insulin injections. My brother-in-law has gone the same route. This to me just doesn't make sense.
-

Wor Lass runs ultra marathons. She's ran the whole of Wales (south to north) in one go in a race. She's doing it again this year. 100 miles weeks - pure training - are no stranger to her.
She's also been a window cleaner for over 20 years.
Her knees are great and give her no problems. She's 50. Or 51. Not sure and I'm too frightened to ask her.
I think the point I'm trying to make is that 'over use injuries' are weird. I think if you keep your muscles strong and flexible via strength training and some form of stretching, joints work as they're meant to work and it reduces the risk of them.
-

Agree.
Type 1 diabetes is a disease where there's a lack of insulin.
But Type 2 diabetes (also known as pie-abeties) is a disease of too much insulin. Adding even more insulin doesn't make sense. With the latter it's best controlled by diet (low carb).
Easier said than done when you like sugar/carbs/junk food though.

I was recently put on statins. I had a 'well man check up' after my fit, not overweight, brother had a heart attack. My father had three of them, starting from quite a young age. Everything was fine.
I don't smoke, drink and I exercise frequently, but my GP consulted a consultant and they recommended I be ultra cautious in spite of my score of heart disease being low from a lifestyle point of view; so because of my family history, they suggested a statin.
I didn't want to know about side-effects because I've heard there's a psychosomatic component to them (you might believe you'll get them, so you get them).
So far I'm feeling fine. ;D

Most men of my age want tablets to increase inflammation!
Being over 50 in the 21st century...
It's magic. ;D
-
clearly your no doctor !
With type 2 you can be overproducing insulin this can lead to the pancreas "burning out"
type 2 has an issue breaking down the sugars which then build up in your bloodstream
you usually start off with metformin - this breaks down the fat barrier in the stomach allowing your insulin to break down sugars
if that is not effective there are other tablets a bit stronger than metformin
finally you get put on insulin (assuming all the diet freaks haven't brought it all) and inject into a fatty area again to directly attack sugars in the blood
side effects of diabetes is the nerve endings get damaged by sugar overload - I no longer feel my feet and lower legs - other than severe bouts of "pins and needles"= usually us fatties are effected but always so - just the luck of the draw!
-
clearly your no doctor !
Yes, but I listen to doctors, this one who specialises in obesity:

sorry tosh - not going to watch all that "stuff" especially when it gets adverts every few minutes with a guy hitting his eyeball with a teaspoon !
seriously - my weight was too high at 17 stone when my kidneys decided to die on me - while waiting for the doc's to sort it out I dropped 3 stone and was termed non diabetic - I didn't need any meds and blood sugar was normal so it can be reversed
you said Adding even more insulin doesn't make sense. - I posted out why its used

Yes, adding more insulin makes no sense when you understand why.
The vid explains.

Mental health issues are worse than any physical ailment anyway in this job. Nothing like a lonely days window cleaning in dark crappy weather to make you want to top yourself
If you top yourself, can I have all your WC gear?
He will let you know after it happens. 😂

This is what I had it was that bad had to stop work altogether.
Had tried all of what has been mentioned with no relief .
After putting up with the pain 24/7 around 12 months then finally decided to see a doctor.
He had denoised me with Polymyalgia Rheumatica
Then prescribed "Prednisolone" for it.
Overview
Polymyalgia rheumatica is an inflammatory disorder that causes muscle pain and stiffness, especially in the shoulders and hips. Signs and symptoms of polymyalgia rheumatica (pol-e-my-AL-juh rue-MAT-ih-kuh) usually begin quickly and are worse in the morning.
Most people who develop polymyalgia rheumatica are older than 65. It rarely affects people under 50.
This condition is related to another inflammatory condition called giant cell arteritis. Giant cell arteritis can cause headaches, vision difficulties, jaw pain and scalp tenderness. It's possible to have both conditions together.

sorry tosh - not going to watch all that "stuff" especially when it gets adverts every few minutes with a guy hitting his eyeball with a teaspoon !
seriously - my weight was too high at 17 stone when my kidneys decided to die on me - while waiting for the doc's to sort it out I dropped 3 stone and was termed non diabetic - I didn't need any meds and blood sugar was normal so it can be reversed
you said Adding even more insulin doesn't make sense. - I posted out why its used
Yes, adding more insulin makes no sense when you understand why.
The vid explains.
But no need to watch it; it's no skin off my nose.
I watched it.
-
What was the cause of your kidney issues Darran? Are you saying you had type 2 diabetes at one time, but it’s now reversed? Assuming that was the cause of the kidney issues…
-
diabetic for 22 years - always a bit over weight (15 st ) 5'8" - one hot summer just gasping for drink and I couldn't walk up 3 steps without collapsing - went to Docs blood sugar 38 !!!
over the years had a few kidney stones - the usual pin head size that you can pass etc..
then 5 years ago I collapsed - constant sickness - back pains - turns out I was cultivating a stone 20mm in diameter - 3 ops to disperse it my weight over the years had crept unto 17 stone - due to illness (ie anything I ate came back up) I dropped to just under 14 st - blood sugars usually were 8 to 10 but also dropped to 6 - the long term bloods showed almost no high sugar - stopped the meds and blood sugar remained normal.
3 weeks after the last op (over 6 month period) kidney function just dropped like a lead balloon down to 15% working
then came Covid/lockdowns and boredom and the weight went up and so did the need for meds.
I'm on insulin as this is the best blend to go with dialysis and this lot.....
this is 3 weeks worth - at the last count I take 36 various tablets a day ;D
(obviously splash probably takes over 50 ! ;) )

On a serious note I wish you all the best and hope that things level out for you and that you improve in your health it must be difficult living with the things you are .

Shall we ask Daz what he terms a healthy breakfast. ;D
Seriously, though, the trouble is that once we are diagnosed pre-diabetic or diabetic, we have to change our diet if we want to keep our blood sugars under control. I'm on a keto diet, which has worked for me till now. But I can understand how people feel when they can't eat carbs and all those sweet cakes and snacks we love so much.
I just take 2 tablets with my evening meal, Metformin and Sitagliptin. Occasionally, I will add a Berberine capsule in the morning. This has bought my HbA1c down from 96 to 53 in 3 months.
This whole lot is now on hold as I have been diagnosed with prostate cancer. But I'm keeping to the keto diet as much as possible.
Sometimes I think I'm badly off, but when compared to Darran's health, I'm not.
I'm also trying to lose weight. The older you get, the harder that becomes.
YouTube is full of doctors and consultants who have conflicting ideas on how to control diabetes, all quoting various studies to back up their findings.

Smudger/Spruce, sorry to hear about your health, your both having to deal with alot. Indeed haven't read the whole thread so empathy to everyone else struggling too. Makes you think when you hear of others health problems how minor your own are. Take care lads.

I’m impressed you can run a business with all that going on, fair play Darran. Most people would give up work.
-
If you ate a healthy breakfast, went to the gym and played the drums, none of that would have happened.
It's probably more healthy to miss breakfast. Remember when we were told that breakfast was 'the most important meal of the day'?
Turns out that's nonsense, not backed up by science, and pushed by cereal producers.

Yep! It’s far more beneficial to intermittent fast.

We've done keto, but we prefer low carb.
We're on it again now. Wor Lass finds it the best way to lose weight (she's not overweight, but likes to get shredded before a long ultra marathon).
She's got a 200 mile race lined up; the lighter she is, the more chance she'll have of completing it.
So she trains fasted and low carb; it' improves the fat-burning metabolic pathways, meaning she needs less carbs (sugar) when she's racing too. Fat (which includes body fat) is a cleaner source of fuel for the body, so less inflammation and easier on the stomach.
-
High fat low carb is the way to go.
Sugar is the enemy, not fat.

I don't like any of the fad diets.....whether it's keto,HFLC etc.its just unsustainable in today's world and leads to bingeing on the foods your trying to stay away from....
When I'm dieting I give myself say 12 weeks to lose a bit of weight.i already know my maintenance calories as I track my food every day.i drop a few hundred calories a day, weigh myself once a week and adjust as I go.
I keep chocolate, crisps, cakes, pizza, etc to an absolute minimum(maybe once or twice a week).I just don't buy the junk on my weekly food shop...
I also skip breakfast some days but thats only so I can eat later into the day(usually at weekends).
My maintenance calories are fairly high(around 3200kcal at present)so I just eat below this.some days I'll eat more especially if I'm sleep deprived and done a hard session in the gym but i subtract that from my next days calories.
As long as I'm in a deficit overall over the course of a week I'll lose weight.this is the best way of dieting for me as its flexible and is as painless as possible.
-
I don't like any of the fad diets.....
Low carb isn't a 'fad'. Before they could make synthetic insulin, low carb was the way they treated diabetics.
Your grandparents ate a lot more fat and less sugar than people do now too.
There's a shed-load of science that says it's a great way to eat for many people (particularly chubby types).
It's great for endurance athletes too.

Bread,noodles,rice,potatoes,pasta taste GOOD!!!😄👍
I'm having homemade chilli con carne with thick cut oven chips sprinkled with grated mature cheese tonight....I'll still lose weight this week but ill enjoy my food a lot more than eating low carb.

You are the gift that keeps on giving ;D

I eat carbs, but low compared to most people, it’s defo not a chore for me.
I feel so much better on a lower carb diet and almost no sugar.
My mate is full carnivore, now on his second year, he’s never been leaner, fitter, stronger in his life and he’s tried all sorts of diets. His energy is through the roof. His concentration. His fitness level, everything is better. His muscle mass is bigger. Protein builds muscle. Once you’re fat adapted, you don’t need carbs or sugar. Your body makes glucose.
The same can be found in almost everyone who goes carnivore.
I couldn’t do it because I love my food too much, but I can absolutely see how it benefits people. The huge amount if incredible testimony’s is very telling.
Just look at Jordan Peterson and his family. Absolutely amazing transformation!
Carbs taste great, hence I eat them, but there ain’t no ‘essential’ carb. We simply don’t need them. We eat eat too much of the stuff in modern day western society.
-

How do you know your maintenance calories?
Because I track my calories.have done for years now and weigh myself once a week
3000-3200kcal per day every day and I stay the same weight so obviously I have to eat less than this to lose weight.

Full carnivore is seriously bad for some people (as in seriously raised blood fat levels).
I'm like you...life is too short to omit whole food groups!💪😄

Bulking and cutting is all part of being a bodybuilder....
Bulking is where your in a slight calorie surplus most of the time and progressively adding weight to the bar in the gym as well as building muscle(typically autumn/winter time).
Cutting is where you eat slightly below your daily calorie needs, continuing to work out hard and slowly lose weight(typically over a 12 week period called a mini cut)while trying to keep as much muscle as possible...
I started my cut on Monday as I'm off to Ibiza in 12 weeks!😎👍💪

High cholesterol isn’t bad. That’s been proven.
It’s sugar and triglycerides that are the cause of most heart attacks etc.
Fats good, sugar bad!

Why d’you want to add increase your weight, as you say typically in the autumn and winter, are you trying to mimic the lifestyle of grizzly bears? They’re muscular aren’t they, is that why?

YouTube is full of doctors and consultants who have conflicting ideas on how to control diabetes, all quoting various studies to back up their findings.
For most people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes they can reverse it WITHOUT medication by going on a strict very low calorie diet(800kcal per day)for a couple of weeks.
The visceral fat around the organs like the pancreas and liver are burned off first which kicks the pancreas back into life....
The problem is some people these days are lazy and feckless and just won't try it and instead look for medication and don't change their lifestyle,diet,etc....
Both my brothers wife and their son have type 1 which is a lot worse than type 2.insulin pumps fitted and they have to be really careful what they eat 24/7.....
-

Most of us gain a bit of weight during the cold winter months so why not put it to good use by building some muscle too?
Muscle is good....
-
I don’t.
I’ve always wondered what happens to that muscle when you become less able/inclined to live that lifestyle, especially as age starts to catch up with you. That’ll not stay muscle will it.

If you don't use it you'll lose it....it'll just waste away and atrophy
Sarcophenia happens to us all as we age but weight training delays it significantly so hopefully we stay fitter and stronger for longer with stronger bones too....

Possibly. But Arnie is 76 and seems to be doing ok even after a heart issue.

-
I wonder how much time Arnie puts in to maintaining a physique like that.
I would imagine Arnie is an exception to the rule as well for more than one reason.
-
He did have an appetite for steroids. I don’t think he achieved his physique eating beans in the bath.
-

The ‘beans in the bath’ comment is going to be one of the longstanding clean it up ‘one liners’ for many, many years. ;D
I do tend to agree with Daz about mucscle mass, it does help later on in life, bones are stronger and muscle will decrease rapidly as we age, but it can be almost completely prevented by training.
Obviously there comes a time where training won’t be possible, but by then, you won’t care ;D
Muscle can’t turn into fat, but it does disappear 🫠. Much like Dazs beans.
-
But if you've created a body-builder physique you've created a physique that when it fails ultimately is going to look gross?
Why will it?I'll never give up weight training.ill be lifting weights until the day I die....
-
But if you've created a body-builder physique you've created a physique that when it fails ultimately is going to look gross?
Steroids have kinda changed what it means to have a 'body builder physique'. For most people who don't take them, it just means you're more muscular than before.
You don't look like a 'proper steroid using bodybuilder'.
-

I've heard that a bloke in his 70s, who lifts weights, can be just as strong as a bloke in his 30s who doesn't lift weights.
No-one wants to be as strong as a 30 year old, they're usually pretty weak, but when you're 70 that's not bad and you'll still be to do stuff like go hiking or give the missis a good rattling.
-

If you want to put on muscle - and you're not a n00b to weight lifting - then you have to eat in a calorific surplus. You'll build muscle but also gain some fat.
Then people try to lose the fat, keeping as much muscle retention as possible.
It's just the way it is.
-

Do you mean that straining to lift weights can make you poo your pants when you get to a certain age?
I recently deadlifted up two 40 kg weights, so 80kg total weight; not particularly heavy, but farted loudly as I lifted the weight.
There were four school kids there who laughed at me when it happened. ;D
Is the next stage one step beyond farting and am I on the decline?

Tight pants to catch your haemorrhoids.
Daz has trouble lifting anything heavier than an Xtreme pole above his head and can’t manage a manual reel so I doubt he’ll take over from Arnie.

Nah theres too much time to think and too much else i would rather be doing. It sounds bliss when you put it like that but in reality when im scrubbing windows in the sun im thinking i could be fishing, biking, walking, on a beach etc anywhere but scrubbing someones windows dripping in sweat. But if you genuinely find enjoyment in it im very jealous must be brilliant to find something you really like doing.

Plenty of time for fishing, biking and walking if you work 4 days a week.im 52 and have plenty of time for my hobbies.i basically have half a week off every week (as it's more like 3 and half days actually cleaning).
Everyone has to work but most people have to work much longer hours in much more stressful jobs...
I personally think you wouldn't be happy in ANY job you do,it's your mindset, lifestyle and whole attitude that needs changing IMO....

I’m similar in my working hours, 4-5 days a week but I’m very very rarely home later than 12:30pm.
I do start at 7-7:30am, out of choice. I much prefer an early start and missing all the traffic.
Adam, it’s definitely a mindset, you have to quite literally decide to enjoy each day. It’s a decision of your will.
Miserable people will be miserable in any job.
You’ve got a good round now, so reduce the hours and just keep refining. Choose to enjoy each day, easier said than done, but I had to learn to do it, that’s for sure.

It is a dull repetitive job that seems to suit dull repetitive people.
Lack of job satisfaction is a big factor and dreadful weather extremes. Easy money with little brain power required. Most jobs of similar expertise simply don’t come close to the earnings potential.

You literally make a free will decision. Don’t be lead by your feelings, choose to enjoy the day. It does take effort, but I had to do it. I was depressed in my early 20’s.

Stoots, what happened about that custard in the food queue?
Nothing, I noticed who she was then carried on with my day. Only saw her once and she only had 1 clean.

So why did you start a new thread about it and about what happened next if there was nothing to comment on?

The question was what do you think happened next wasn it?
It was rhetorical really
Didn't realise there would be such interest
I should have made something up forgot it was ciu
Yeh I stuck her head in the rice then her husband raped me.

Reminds me of my sister thinking they were "Masked" Pipe Bands rather than "Massed" Pipe Bands at Chatsworth Country Fair wondering why the bagpipers didn't wear masks! 🤦😅

Do you start at 7am on domestic?
I'm always up early and of the same mindset I'd rather get out early and get home early.
I'd start at 7 if I could but feel that 8 is bare minimum on domestic and often that feels way too early

Yeah between 7-7:30am, I know the customers who are up and ready, a couple of times a week I start with commercial so doesn’t matter.
Most of my customers are so well acquainted now that they know roughly what time I’ll be there (nit necessarily the day, but the time of day).
I also clean those who work in London, for example, first, as they are up out!

It is a dull repetitive job that seems to suit dull repetitive people.
Lack of job satisfaction is a big factor and dreadful weather extremes. Easy money with little brain power required. Most jobs of similar expertise simply don’t come close to the earnings potential.
If you've an inquisitive mind, use the window cleaning to listen to podcasts/audio books on subjects which interest you.
Just downloaded the lovely Alice Robert's third book in her series about dead people.
Can't wait to get out and to work to listen to it.
Joe Rogan's great. BBC Sounds is very good for news and politics if you can ignore the bias. Etc.
What a gift it is to be a window cleaner in the 21st Century.

Speaking of which, Dr Michael Mosely might help you to prevent/delay health issues that will affect your work.

Each podcast he presents one thing that will/may improve your health.
I've taken on a few tips, like the 'drinking 3 cups of green tea' per day; good for your brain, heart and waistline. We do a lot of the other stuff (like eating berries every day) anyway.

40 days eating only beans (and runs an ultra marathon on them):

He lost a fair bit of weight too.

I actually use work for a lot of thinking time.
I listen to music, but only on commercial jobs where I’m there for a while with no distractions/people.
I guess I’m only at work 5 hours each day. So with that, I can run through what’s on my mind and think about future decisions etc.
I never get bored.

Thinking is dangerous; sometimes it even kills.
In AA meetings they have a table sign saying 'THINK THINK THINK" and occasionally if it's in front of the 'wrong person', I'll say "That's not for people like you!" and move it elsewhere. ;D
