how long should your boots last

 hi chaps
purchased some water proof boots in aug and both boots are split in 2 places. is this acceptable .....

how much were they ??

I use these ... last for about 6 months before they leak

buy em 3 pairs at a time so just reach for new pair when they wear out

Hey cowboy. I have just had the same experience. I bought some hi tec boots in August 2012 advertised as completely waterproof. The exact same boots i bought previously which lasted nearly a year. The glue started to come unstuck for the upper and sole on both boots so I rang hi tec and they said to send them back by free post and they will examine them. They agreed to replace them at no cost!!
They were £60.
So it might be worth trying to get them replaced if you have receipt.

Bought some gortex boots from army surplus store 2 yrs ago and they are just starting to go so I went down yesterday and bought another pair - £40
Can't go wrong  :)

I find how ever much I spend on boots, they seem to last roughly the same length of time which is about 3 to 4 months.

I used to spend £100 - £150 per pair but now I buy cheap at £20 - £25.

my boots usaully last 1 half years as out in them most days and they take some abuse i think its because they are allways wet it rots the stitching , i remember one year we were working and my brother in law said his feet were wet there was no hole on in view its when he got home there was a big hole in the sole of the boot  ;D ;D ;D

I bought these boots from toolstation. I wasnt expecting alot as they are so cheap but they lasted me 1 year and 2 months before water started coming in. They are really comfortable too. I am on my second pair now. Worth a go:

dont waste your money on the crap sports direct sell. they last no time & are waterproof for about a day. had the karrimore walkiing boots total crap.

Sports Direct sell other brands too; some not to bad; at least this is true when it comes to training shoes.  I don't know about their boots.

berghaus gortex boots £100 a pair last 1 year. aways get good socks £10 a pair from blacks.

I always used Peter Storm from Millets.  I've got weird feet, result of traumatic contact with a slab of concrete from 20 feet up in 1978.  I found these boots would mould to the shape of my feet after a couple of weeks, were the most comfortable I ever found and stayed waterproof until the day they fell apart (about 4 years).  I always made sure I gave them a good coat of dubbin every few weeks, especially in the winter.

The problem I always have with my boots is that although the boots stay in great condition, the soles get worn away to nothing within six months.

yes just bought a pair from screw fix, they are cheaper there, and very comfy boots, i have sprayed teflon on them so it might last longer. :)

I estimate I've been through around 25/30 pairs of boots over the last 11 years,£30 or so( sometimes a lot more) hiking boots.

Karrimor hiking boots TK Maxx for less than £50 usually last a year or so.
On my 5th pair. Comfortable. Funny-the soles wear out before the tops leak.
