Right hang on a sec;

948-1331kg (260 SWB, MWB)
957-1220kg (280 SWB, MWB. LWB)
1252-1420kg (300 SWB, MWB, LWB)

looking at those last figures with 2 men full tank ,poles etc u would think they can all take 800 liters?
the 300 could take 1000l? ,someone i was speaking to on the forum has a 300 forgot who with 1000l 2 men says its no problems?

I wouldnt wana go above the 300,they get too big after that,i heard even the large connect is good for 650 2 men

Hi Crystal-clear

I'm not sure where you are getting your payload figures from, but you can only have 1 figure for 1 van. I suspect that the figures you have got are for a van and then the chassis cab (without body) so those payload figures are going to be higher.

For example, on the latest Transit T260 SWB LR (Ford's brochure from Internet) the GVM of a T260 is 2600 kgs. The basic van with the latest 2.2TDCI has a gross payload of 901 Kgs. That's 901kgs without fuel in tank, driver, passenger, roof bars, plylining, towbar etc. Put 800litres in the back with 2 x 400 litre tanks at 26kgs each tank with tank frame and you are already near its limit. As the van gets bigger, ie MWB and taller, MR the payload is reduced as the weight of the van get heavier to accomodate in increased size.

But I see the SWB chassis cab has a payload of 1323 kgs which is of not use to you.

The older Transit T260 SWB LR with the 2.0l TDCI engine had a payload of 988kgs as the motor was lighter.

T280 SWB LR - payload 1101 kgs. Still can't put a 800 litre tank in the back with all the gear and drive it without being in fear of being overloaded.

T300 SWB LR - payload 1301 kgs. If you put the full 1000 litre tank in and 2 operatives, you maybe just on max payload with a pole and hose reel each. If they are my size, then you'll be over loaded.

Hence my earlier advise that you would safely need either a T330 or even a T350 to accomodate your plan which I stick by.
