website domain name availability can have a bearing.

A shop called Dreams sells beds, he thought it would give him a wider product range than bed supermarket etc.

But, just like the 'prefect' leaflet,a name won't guarantee success.Who the hell thought of EON? And wasn't consignia a good idea?

One of the most successfull names? Tesco, a merge of tessa and cohen, a bit like one of those stupid house names. What's your wife called?

I`ve used my own name and really did not want to but in the end it makes me believe in what i am doing as i have put my name to it and am hoping it will help me persevere as it wont just be a window cleaning set up that packs in,it will be me and i can`t have that,so progress rather than perfection is the current way of thinking, borrowed that from the fellowship as some may recognize.

If I had your name i would use F1 window cleaning, proprietor Mark Blundell, that along with your name will get you noticed. and people will remember you.

I use David Morris Window Cleaning, despite being advised many times to use something like squeeky clean, or crystal clear, I am not doing to bad at all.

I'd agree with D. Morris if you're determined not to use your own name.

Mark is a good word, with lots of uses and connotations.

A firm on here is called Mclean- can any one guess what his name is?

I tend to agree with d morris as well.

but another option is to use your own name but the company logo is a f1 car. But I am thick skinned and don't care much if folk take the mick of my name. Use it to your advantage and be proud of it.

you could play the logo a few ways as well

For domestic i thought just having your own name might make a customer perceive your not going to do a bad job and that you may be cheaper than a business if you get my drift, not that any of this matters when almost certainly the way to get an income in the beginning(if not always) is to knock doors and when they say yes they generally havn`t got a clue who you are. I got a customer this week that approached my signwritten van though and she said, you`ll have to come when my husband is not in as he wont have a  window cleaner as he thinks window cleaners are burglars.Havn`t done her windows yet, waiting on a call, but i will and if she has a gang of friends who are after a trustworthy window cleaner then there is potential, very well to do she was and lives 10 miles away, probably thinks she will get them done for ten bob !
Mate of mine set up(200 miles away) and is very busy doing high end properties(and i mean high end),he is going seriously well and has an escort van with "your local window cleaner" on it plus contact numbers and thats all the flyers he uses basically say. I`m only poncing about with websites, flyer artwork etc because i have loads of time due to the lack of customers, hand on heart if i had put as much effort into canvassing i probably wouldn`t be attaching much importance to this type of thing,in fact i am only doing it as it can`t do any harm as i know what gives results, canvass, canvass, canvass.

i would always choose a name that sounds friendly.  a nickname.     i see a van drive round here,a builder whose name is mr.dixon /  he has DICKO"S BUILDING services on his van , a memorable name as in

"who are we going to get in to do our extension love?"

"hows about old dicko, i see him about a lot "

I believe it was called Tesco as a shortened down from it previous name something along the lines of 'Tea Shipping Company' not from two peoples names.  ;)

a company name wont bring sucess hard work will so i did matter what name you have you could have the best name in the world but if you give a crap service the name won't mean jack ;D

f1 cleaning might make people think that you rush around and won't clean the windows properly

i would use  -  Blundell window cleaning  or  Area window cleaning
