anyone got any ideas for a company name?
I have really got to get the ball rolling on this once i have the name i can start getting logos designed paperwork printed ect.
but i'm struggling to think of a company name.
I am looking for something that will suit both domestic and commercial customers so not to much not to little.
any ideas would be good cheers

mark blundell window cleaning (or cleaner)

What's wrong with using your name? People know who they are dealing with. It shows you have confidence in your own abilities.
-
Fat bobs window cleaning

Blundell Window Cleaning Service .
Straight to the point no messing ;D

-
i use my area for my company name good for websites aswell
-
I actually like the formula 1 window cleaning idea :-\
-
A name you won't be ashamed of.Too many think up daft names for no reason.Your name will be part of your brand profile and want this as high as possible. Some names are inspired- a guy on here is called Jelly fish window cleaning- and kids pester their parents to have him. Mostly though forget the clever stuff, your own name, some aspect of the area you work in, or a reference to what is unique about you.
-
Your towns name or area name (Whichever starts with the letter closest to the beginning of the alphabet) and then "Cleaning Services". Simple, memorable, great for website/domain names etc.
-
Isn't there someone called Purple Helmet or something?
-
whay dont u use blue banana, i was looking at using it before the money came along
-
If I had your name i would use F1 window cleaning, proprietor Mark Blundell, that along with your name will get you noticed. and people will remember you.
I use David Morris Window Cleaning, despite being advised many times to use something like squeeky clean, or crystal clear, I am not doing to bad at all.

What a great marketing tool it could be and you don't want to use it Mark! Logo could be a "cartoon type F1 car" etc etc.
It wouldn't be misleading anyone and could be used to your advantage, on the other hand most domestic custies will remember you as just "their" window cleaner" so don't agonise too much over a name, just get on and do it :)
-
im after something catchy not my name and something im not going to be ashamed of.
i actually quite like formula 1 windows too ;D ;D ( not sure formula 1 would like it)

website domain name availability can have a bearing.
A shop called Dreams sells beds, he thought it would give him a wider product range than bed supermarket etc.
But, just like the 'prefect' leaflet,a name won't guarantee success.Who the hell thought of EON? And wasn't consignia a good idea?
One of the most successfull names? Tesco, a merge of tessa and cohen, a bit like one of those stupid house names. What's your wife called?
-
I`ve used my own name and really did not want to but in the end it makes me believe in what i am doing as i have put my name to it and am hoping it will help me persevere as it wont just be a window cleaning set up that packs in,it will be me and i can`t have that,so progress rather than perfection is the current way of thinking, borrowed that from the fellowship as some may recognize.

I'd agree with D. Morris if you're determined not to use your own name.

her names Julia but not sure i can combine that?

Mark is a good word, with lots of uses and connotations.
A firm on here is called Mclean- can any one guess what his name is?
-
i am seriously considering formula 1 window cleaning i have looked on companys house and it is available as is the domain name .co.uk and com
im just thinking it is memorable along with my name
-
I tend to agree with d morris as well.
but another option is to use your own name but the company logo is a f1 car. But I am thick skinned and don't care much if folk take the mick of my name. Use it to your advantage and be proud of it.
you could play the logo a few ways as well

Good point Eric.

For domestic i thought just having your own name might make a customer perceive your not going to do a bad job and that you may be cheaper than a business if you get my drift, not that any of this matters when almost certainly the way to get an income in the beginning(if not always) is to knock doors and when they say yes they generally havn`t got a clue who you are. I got a customer this week that approached my signwritten van though and she said, you`ll have to come when my husband is not in as he wont have a window cleaner as he thinks window cleaners are burglars.Havn`t done her windows yet, waiting on a call, but i will and if she has a gang of friends who are after a trustworthy window cleaner then there is potential, very well to do she was and lives 10 miles away, probably thinks she will get them done for ten bob !
Mate of mine set up(200 miles away) and is very busy doing high end properties(and i mean high end),he is going seriously well and has an escort van with "your local window cleaner" on it plus contact numbers and thats all the flyers he uses basically say. I`m only poncing about with websites, flyer artwork etc because i have loads of time due to the lack of customers, hand on heart if i had put as much effort into canvassing i probably wouldn`t be attaching much importance to this type of thing,in fact i am only doing it as it can`t do any harm as i know what gives results, canvass, canvass, canvass.

Abbey Cleaning.
Leaves you open to diversify.
-
i would always choose a name that sounds friendly. a nickname. i see a van drive round here,a builder whose name is mr.dixon / he has DICKO"S BUILDING services on his van , a memorable name as in
"who are we going to get in to do our extension love?"
"hows about old dicko, i see him about a lot "
-
I think a company called Rubber Duck is for sale?
-

dont waste time...get all the domain names and the company name registered pronto....coz i bet you one or two looking in on this will want it and buy them before you know it.

I believe it was called Tesco as a shortened down from it previous name something along the lines of 'Tea Shipping Company' not from two peoples names. ;)
-
bit off topic but did you know aldi and lidl are owned by brothers i didnt till yesterday lol ;D
oh brothers who hate each other lol
-
a company name wont bring sucess hard work will so i did matter what name you have you could have the best name in the world but if you give a crap service the name won't mean jack ;D
f1 cleaning might make people think that you rush around and won't clean the windows properly
i would use - Blundell window cleaning or Area window cleaning
-
I actually like the formula 1 window cleaning idea :-\
Surely that would be Martin Brundle not Mark Blundell ???
;D
-
plenty of successful window cleaners dont use any name at all.NO SIGNWRITING/NO LEAFLETS and have very good rounds built up through hard work, canvassing and being regular and reliable.
but if you want i have an idea for you
DICK LILYCRAP WINDOW CLEANING
got a nice ring to it dont you think?? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I like the word "Icon"... So how about:
Icon Window Cleaning
Andy

I just use "Coleman Services".
Makes it a bit easier to diversify if I ever choose to.
After switching to WFP, I did consider "Cool Poleman" but decided against it :)
Why not just use your initials? M.B. Cleaning or M.B. Window Cleaning.
I don't recommend "Window Cleaning Marks" though.

Does Matt use the "M.B." format then?
I did wonder what people were on about wiuth formula 1 as I don't follow it too closely. The first few posts were lost on me till I googled the name.

I bet your name 'cuts the mustard' with your custards?
-
i was gonna use yellow duck window cleaning - as was gona have some one artwork a happy cartoony yellow duck and i thought of lots of plays on the logo to make it memeorable - but then i thought it might sound childish and not appealing to commercials - so now i got sunshine window cleaning - not convinced its that striking but so long as folk get use to me about its a name to go buy.
some guy in another town has got spotless - thought that was quite good
:)
-
Mark,
you could call yourself wfp-windowcleaner..........
I could even sell you the domain name www.wfp-windowcleaner.co.uk (or sell it to anyone esle if they want to buy it )

Mark Blundell was also an F1 driver, but like Martin didn't really have the edge to be one of the greats.

Yeah I was being churlish, they were both something of a non entity in their day.
Brundel is definitely the better presenter though!

The mustard version has no "e" in it. I did juggle a few ideas around about mustard/mustered but decided against that for two reasons. 1. It sounded clumsy. 2. The mustard company might have got to hear of it and threatened legal action.
