Rain water
« on: November 17, 2005, 03:18:07 pm »
Is rain water collected in a water butt any good for cleaning in the trad way as an alternative to tap water. If not is there another alternative which would be like using pure water to avoid streaking etc?
Cheers guys ::)

You have to bear in mind that rain water will loose its pure status over time, as will tap water.

Plus, even though the ppm may be lower, it will contain dirt not affected by the ppm meter.

As an experiment, I tested our tap water, 65ppm. Then I tested the washing up water after doing the pots.
The result 68ppm. I can asure you, I dont use dish water to clean windows!!

Water from my tap is 400ppm, from my water butt from the garage roof about 70ppm. I often use rainwater to clean trad. It works fine but no significant advantage. (I use GG4 btw)
It's a game of three halves!
