Work Trousers
« on: October 05, 2018, 07:25:59 pm »
My Regatta work trousers are beginning to fall apart at the seams (OK they were a cheapo pair off eBay  ;D)....

Just wondered what work trousers you would recommend.

Funnily enough just popped in to my local Decathlon store this morning and bought a pair for £25. Only tried on so far for size but very comfortable and seem to be of hard wearing material. Got a fleece lined pair last year (£40 ) that are still great after last winter that I'll save for the coldest days ( were good enough for a Febuary visit to Iceland with a 3 day snow blizzard and wind chill of - 8 ). Also recommend their range of boots. Ok , they're not flashy but they are cheap, waterproof and light and will last the winter.

I used to pop into my local sports direct store as they sold Dunlop work trouser which were very hard wearing and with extra pockets/pouches.
Then I switched to englebert strauss and paid a fraction more and I got kitted out with work tops as well, embroider and they have stood the test of time n wear.   No shrinkage when washing or using the tumble dryer.
This time round, I noticed we had a local "Dickies" store and bought new work trousers from them (the more expensive ones in store, as they have a couple of designs) and the fit was much better.   However, the tops are not as hard wearing and shrink slightly after the first wash.
The trousers began to fade in colour on my knees only after about six months but I really like the fit of them and so I bought some black dye and soaked them. I was concerned that the red stitching pattern would be lost but the dye didn't touch the red at all and so far no loss of colour.
Overall conclusion for trousers and work wear, stick to englebert as you really do get what you pay for. But if your prepared to perhaps dye your trousers again, then dickies work trousers with extra pouches n red stitching are a great fit as well

mine are actually the warmer ones with more zip pockets and are slightly more expensive at £40....well worth the money for working in the rain in the winter months....

^ ;D

I've read threads on here before about work wear and Englebert-Strauss got good reviews, so I bought a pair a month ago. Very impressed.
They've got pockets in the right places. Good zip pockets for cash, open pockets for keys, wallet and phone.
You can get different materials as mentioned already. I went for the stretch soft-shell which are really comfortable. Highly recommended.
I've tried all kinds of stuff over the years. Hiking, mountaineering gear was best so far, but it costs a bit for decent gear like north face summit series or Haglöfs which are quality.
But Englebert-Strauss seem well thought out, reasonably priced  work wear.

Scruffs for me.

Best work trousers I’ve ever had. Decent price, and super hard wearing.  Loads of pockets and spaces for knee pads too.

The difference with Englebert Strauss  is they cater for short, normal, tall, fat, regular and skinny blokes.  That’s why they fit so well and are so comfortable.  Snickers are also brilliant but they really have begun to kick the a$$ out of the price

Defo need some expanding work trousers.

Snickers are owned by a Swedish group (not ABBA)
