Algae in storage tank

Anyone have problems with algae in their outside storage tank?

I have a white, plastic IBC tank in a mostly-shaded part of my back garden in which I store my RO'd water. I notice a greenish band, about 4" high along one side of the inside of the tank where the surface of the water was about 3 days ago. (I have since transferred out most of the water to my van.)

Because I work part-time, I often have the water standing still for a few days.

It can't be anything other than algae, can it? I have 2 issues now:

1. I think I have to eradicate the little critters.  :(
2. I need to stop them coming back. :(

Any advice, folks?

Hi Gordon

Cover your tank with black plastic stop the sunlight as this is the problem, also if you have your r/o in the sun cover as well.

How are you getting on.

Greenclean should get rid of it, you spray it on and leave it a couple of days. Obviously, you will need to give your tank a very thorough rinse after use. Cleantech stock it.
