Why do they not make vacs smaller and more powerfu
« on: August 05, 2004, 04:05:29 am »
Every month Computers become more powerful.

Vacs however do not appear to have advanced much.

Is cleaning equipment unexciting.

Did they give up with the vax and dyson. My Dyson is Crap

What we need are a seris of small motors pulling as much as a truckmount

It is all to do with the physics and fluid dynamics. ;D
To get enough power and efficiency from a unit it has to be a specific size. The amount of air moved by a unit is determined by the diameter, speed and power avialable. The latest units seem to run at a phenominal speed and it would seem that limits are being reached on the centrifugal force the turbines will stand. The7.2" units run at a lower speed than the later high efficiency 5.7 or smaller units. If you ran the 7.2s at that speed they would fall to bits.
God must love stupid people---He made so many.

Ian,

What you need is a 'Black Hole Fragment'.

Russian scientists managed to capture a black hole and tow it to a secret location, where it is being broken down to microscopic fragments.

Put just one of these in a suitably reinforced waste tank and you have  all the suction you could ever want for the next year  :o

I happen to have sole import rights on these (just beat Nick to the deal) and  I can let you have a pack of five for the amazingly low price of £1,000 (used notes only please).

Send your order today  ;) ;) ;D

John, the latest pronouncement from Professor Hawking is that contrary to his original theory, black holes may release captive material, so there is a grave danger that instead of sucking - all of a sudden your product could blow - with enormous force and with devastating results to the client's wallpaper and the reputation of the unsuspecting carpet cleaner.

I shall therefore not be placing an order.

John,

In 1972, I had just taken up my first Management apointment as Deputy Manager of W.H. Smith in Basildon

Two days after arriving the Manager went on holiday, and just as he left he said get the Cleaning Contractor  to clean the record departments carpet.

I thought it was just a routine thing.

I askedthem to do it, they looked at me a bit puzzled Carpet Cleaning whats that?

I better ask the boss.

To cut a long story short, they eventually came along and used a rotary scrubber and turned the entire area into mud.

Eventually we got a firm from London to do it.

John where were you in my hour of need.

Why did you not canvas us and say do you want your carpet cleaning mate

Still cant remember Vange went through Pitsea everday as I lived in Hadleigh at the time.

Ian,

Sorry to have let you down.

In 1972 I had moved ofices from London WC1 to E17 and had only a vague idea that Basildon existed - best way really ;)

At that time, had you sneezed, you would have missed Vange.

John.
