National contract - can anyone help?
« on: June 22, 2004, 06:24:42 pm »
Hi

We have a customer who we supply cleaning materials to on a national basis. They have 340 branches and are looking for a company to deal with the carpet cleaning requirements for them.

Do we have any members who can cover large areas of the UK who may be interested in quoting?

Ideally they'd like a single company to deal with it all but I'm happy to forward details of anyone who may be able to help in certain regions.

Regards

Mike

Hi Mike

Do they have branches in Northern Ireland? If so I can pass this on to a contract cleaner who would be fit to cover this region.

Terry you the fastest window cleaner but carpets????

Mike one carpet cleaning company covering the UK? Why not take the contract on yourself and sub it that’s what every one else dose!

I would love to put my self forwards but I would need to know  a lot more details on customers requirements and locations,  like is it hws, lm etc

I would also question some who posted example dave555 now a cross dresser have a snap shot of profile,

Joking apart it could be done.

has anyone actually put any thought into this post?

what are you expecting Mike to do, give this large blue chip company a list of names saying

Pete from leeds can do yorkshire, John from derby can do the Midlands, Joe from London can do the Home counties... etc

I apoligise if  I sound a little insulting but I hope anyone who has put their name forward has sent Mike a private message with a full company profile.

how can he put forward a company with just a first name.

Hi Guys

Sorry, I've been offline for a while.

We actually got the consumable business from them because, amongst other things, they wanted one supplier that could deal with all the branches and send a single invoice once a month. Unfortunately, I'm sure they'll want the same with the carpet cleaning.

I've got a couple of instant messages from a couple of people who can do nationwide coverage and we'll try that approach first.

Can anyone tell me if a franchise like Chem-Dry would actually manage a national contract at head office level (including invoicing) and then distribute the work amongst it's franchisees or are they all run entirely independently?

Are there many national carpet cleaners about?

Regards

Mike

Mike, CD here in OZ would handle that at Corporate level and monitor all work performed. They would allocate the work to the nearest franchisee capable of performing the work, and invoice the customer direct.

I'm sure the UK system would operate similarly.

I would presume that the large national office cleaning companies who also clean carpets may be able to help, but you may be shooting yourself in the foot with that one.

Wrennals of Lancashire do carpet cleaning contract work in most areas of the country so may be able to help. Tel: 01772 435739

Safe and happy cleaning:)

As the owner of a small but very busy commercial cleaning company i have for the past year assumed the roll of carpet cleaner. I take a great deal of pleasure from this and always aim to do the best job possible, i manage to regularly learn new skills and methods, often from experts on this forum and have built up a great reputation in my area. I would consider myself to be a good cleaner of carpets and a reasonable business man, to honest to be a good one :)
On this forum there are a number of very good carpet cleaners with years of experience and must have excellent reputations, how much work would it involve for a number of us to form an association which could cover national contracts like the one mentioned in this subject?
I know it would be lots of hard work but would it be possible as i'm sure there are many national franchises with which we could easily compete with if given the capacity to undertake such work.

Hi Mike
Long time since I've been on this site, so we're a little behind the curve on this thread - one of our guys pointed it out to me!
We use truckmounts to cover the country and already service a significant number of national accounts with both planned and reactive maintenance across England, Wales and Scotland. All national accounts are handled at head office including invoicing and quality control, so it shouldn't be a problem for us.  We would also do full specification for the work centrally, including H&S, COSSH etc.
Let me know if you're interested.
Thanks
James

I know that A to Z Cleaning in Cornwall handle national contracts with operators based in many areas. A to Z are part of HydraMaster base in Treskillard, Cornwall.
