which block paving seal.

hi guys..

i do window cleaning and the odd driveway with petrol washer...

but i have never sealed one until now !   and its my own, am i glad i never offered that service. ???... i used wickes own brand 11.99 for 5 litres... and i needed 3 of them...

but my missus is not happy... she said she wanted it shiny and glossy.... i am quite pleased its sealed  but it is dull.... can anyone tell me where to get the glossy stuff for a final coat please ?

i'd try giving another coat of the stuff you 've already put on. whatever you do don't try putting a polyeurethane  sealer such as resiblock on to the wickes sealer which i assume is an acrylic.

it is acrylic  , what would happen?... i have put two coats on already.... cant i just purchase some form of gloss somewhere.?

you should be ok as long as not polyeurethane which would not key to the acrylic. try a test area first to see if the missus likes the result.

I have been asked to put a seal on after doing a power washing job. Can it go on as soon as you have finished or does it have to dry out first.

it surely does have to dry out and dry out completley. the test is this : on block paving.  first select the lowest point in  the paving ie where the water drains to. pour some kiln dried sand into the joints. wait five minutes. scrape the sand out with a paper clip or someything if the sand is dry then the paving can be resanded and sealed.

any moisture below the seal will reappear on the newly sealed surface as white salt deposits and staining...customer will be calling you back...leave until it has been dry for 24/48 hours for sealing.

thanks for the posts here,,

to be honest i said i was glad it was sealed,.. but now i aint so sure... water droplets everywhere, from morning dew..... then toaday it poured down..... thousands of water droplets all over the drive and yard area.... and puddles puddles puddles,  :o

and they all take an eternity to dry out or soak in,

so you may ask what did i expect, the driveway is SEALED.

WINTER... is what i am worried about, because all that will be ice. ???... will it get better guys..... or am i stuck with it  ???

these drives can be very slippy in winter especially when frosty, we usually mix the anti slip granules in with the seal before applying you cant even see them when applied and it solves the slip problem.
