Morrisons Till Receipts Advertising
« on: December 14, 2004, 05:36:40 pm »
Had a call today from Morrisions they wanted me to advertise on the back of their till receipts in the local store.

The theory is, its like handing out thousands of leaflets every day 7 days a week.

Its £2000 for 6 months advertising.

But in reality how many shoppers will actualy take any notice of the back of the receipt?

Has anyone ever done this before and what was the response, they suggest a 2% return per week is achievable( which is huge).

When I asked for details of other companies doing similar so I could check they said they are not allowed to give out such information ::)

As they were so sure of their results I suggested a trial run of 1 month at no cost to monitor response. That didn't go down to well :-\

How many times do you look at the back of your till receipt I know I don't.I had a similar call about advertising on the back of car parking tickets.

Go shopping...collect till receipts...call any advertisers...ask them about response.

I.M.O. agree with George,  better ways to advertise with £2k

I'm surprised that somebody as experienced as yourself is even asking!!

I guess you're doing it for the benefit of the newbies.

My answer is NO (if you hadn't already guessed!!).

Hi,

If anyones got £2000 to waste I will be more than happy to take it off their hands.

At least you won't have to worry about no return because I will have spent it on a nice holiday!

Seriously any newbies NEVER do  any of these type of scams.

If in doubt post on here and we'll let you know.

Cheers,

Doug

I had a call yesterday for a guy wanting to sell me advertising on a Telly in the main Post Office near me, I told him to look at this site and he would get my answer from all the negative reports about the Rip Off!!

In previous times I have said YES, I will pay you on the amount of responce that I get!!!  I wonder why they would not go for that??. If these schemes are as good as they make out they are why should we the advertiser take all the risk??
I get better looking each day!!

Is any one speaking from experiance about this topic? has anyone tried it?

the more I think about it the more I'm undecided. marketing is about numbers, how many till reciept will Morrison give out every week, 50,000 100,0000 ? and they will go out to a set topigraphical area.

most woman put the reciept in their purse with the change, if it was in the form of a voucher giving 15% off carpet & upholstery cleaning it might work.

you could also negosheate ( i know its spelled wrong ;)) to put leaflet holders on the counters as well.

Has anyone tried on the back of car park tickets. However like Woodman I would want 2 months trial for which i would pay them £10 a customer. not respondent.

I always get turned down

How about doctors appointment cards. Same sort of thing. Payed my £300 and haven't had one call after being on the cards for about 2years.

I remember a few years ago, ASDA used to put money off vouchers on their till receipts. Now that is to buy their products, with money off. Noticed then don't do it any more, feedback data, must of told them it didn't work.

I said before non of these scams work. If they did then we wouldn't be getting called.

Newspapers are one of the worst, I do a small ad in the freebie, but they ring on an almost weekly basis"we're doing a full page spread on Children In Need, Marie Currie, Tenavous,  The local hospice.................but to name a few.  Thats fine, but when I say, I'll donate direct, you run the ad for free, oh no not interested. So why try and sell me space on the back of mostly peoples mis-fortune.Is because the think you won't refuse. Sorry but I do.

Ayeup Catman

I would not go as far as to say these Supermarket schemes were SCAMS !!

If you had thought of them and they were bringing money in to feed, clothe and house you, you would say they are Good Idea's, unfortunatley they do not work for our industry!! Good Idea's I would say if they worked but definitley NOT scams.

You are getting calls from these companies because just like us, they have to sell their products.

End of Rant.

John,

It was me not the Catman who first called these scams and I'll stick by what I said.
