Quite and Then Busy
« on: February 08, 2006, 06:58:31 pm »
For about six weeks I have not picked up any new work.

Then this week I have picked up 2 barn conversions at £50 each and one house at £55 and one at £90 also a cottage at £14, all every 8wks. Also forgot one at £20.

Have you noticed how it goes like that? You have patches were it goes quite then all hells let loose.

Yes Roy,

I got a £7.00 terraced house and a £10.00 detached house last week!

I'm obviously not taking David of St Ives's advice:  location location location!!!

We've found that a lot with commercial work.

It all runs along smoothly then suddenly one, two or three jobs vannish and that kind of 'nearly a bit worried' feeling sets in.

Then it all carries on for a while and then, as happened in the first week of the new year, in a week we pick up 7 new jobs.

Then last week, 4 more new jobs.

Feels good doesn't it?

Yes it seems that way doesn't it?  I've actually lost more work than I've gained in the past few weeks but I intend to be reversing that as the Winter starts to recede.

wfp all the way!!  Are you using a van mount??  You'd really need a 1000ltr van system.  I'm building one next weekend, 2x650ltr with another 250 flat tank accross the top!  3 man system in a mercedes sprinter hi-roof lwb.  That outta do you for a couple of hotels

Cheers again Roy and Sarah too (for her commercial letter in the docs to upload section).

I think Roy's thread gave me some good luck.

This afternoon I received a phone call to quote for a local care home and while I was their they asked me to quote for their other care home.

Both are substantial jobs and the second one can only safely be done with a WFP.

AND, I also have a bit of 'inside information' as Wor Lass used to work in one of the care homes.

Wahoo!

Hi Roy.

I did one of them (No5 I think) up to about 3 years ago, but it was too hard work at £7 and they were never in anyway.

These days I do upwards of 50 houses in the village though. It's my biggest area.

Everyone in the village seems to know me, even the ones who aren't customers.
I get told all the gossip and feel like I live there sometimes! ::)

Cheers, Rog.
