that ladder is 2 year old,its a 3.6 metre so its not used all the time, the spikes were made and not bought, some are over 20 year old as i take them off when the ladder is knacked and put them on the new ladder but i use new nuts and bolts

I use ladder mitts and find them very good. Bit of a pain sometimes wiping the ledge, cant do it in one swipe. But learn how to put them, And they are very very firm.

With regards to the metal spikes, are they ok on concrete? What about soft decking?

Can see the concept, if they work all the time can imagine them to be more secure than the plastic base...

spikes are ok on concrete but if its that pressed shiny stuff you need a crack,ok on decking if its laid the right way you can get the spike in a groove, i tried the feet on the ladders last year but soon swopped back to spikes
