chewing gum removal from Rubber floors
« on: November 02, 2003, 11:55:34 pm »
Hi people,
this question may have been asked loads of times before, but i have had a quick scroll through the messages and not found it.
is there an easy way of getting chewing gum off of rubber/vinyl floors?
these specific ones are on swimming pool changing rooms; which are constantly wet so you wouldn't think they would go hard, but beleive me they do; and are proving difficult to get off, short of sitting around for hours with a scraper. many thanx

Hi Goodhand,

You need a dry steam cleaner. This type of equipment will peel the gum off vinyl, rubber floors etc in no time. There are lots on the market from £90 up to £6000! There are several good suppliers of this equipment but Express Cleaning Supplies do have an excellent range, try visiting their site. www.express-cleaning-supplies.co.uk

What about freezer sprays?

You might then be able to break them up and hoover away or scrape them off quicker...

Freezer sprays are a slow method and great care has to be taken as it is very easy to damage the carpet fibres when using this method
