I'm selling a round, how much is it worth?
« on: June 13, 2005, 02:38:29 pm »

I am looking to sell my round, it has 108ish customers all close together on estates, no driving all day and the average price is over £10 a house. It earns about £120 - £180 a day with one man. Its enough for 8-10days a month. All customers are located in the South Birmingham/Worcestershire area on three estates. All the customers pay by post using printed envelopes and they pay for the stamp. Average clean time is 20mins a house ish.

How much is it worth? Whats the usual calculation?

3 times the monthly amount, 4 times is just to steep. However there is a company near me who sell rounds for 4 times the amount and they are doing well. I have only ever payed 1 months worth if that, so 4 times, no-way.

I paid for all of mine, of 3 different people 1 X the amount

infact i worked it with them for 1 month, then i paid them 1/2 the amount as i had earned the other half :)

i wouldnt touch 4X, not even 3X too be honest

people who ask me allways get the same answer

if some1 wants to sell and you want to buy, then 1X the amount is the price

Whether you pay 2, 3 or 4 times the amount, Matt's got the right idea. I would pay a small 'deposit', work the round with them and then agree to pay them over a couple of months. The higher the multiple they want the longer you should try to get to pay for it. That way it's a win-win situation.

Always get to see the work before you pay for it!

I think Matt is way out at 1 times, to find the going rate have a look at the manchester evening news or the loot or similar, nearly all the serious rounds are 2 times + and up to 10 times for commercial.

I agree with dave's last comment.

Listen to some of the guys trying to build a round from scratch. It's hard work.
A good round is a valuable asset. Its a business on a plate.

At the end of the day though a round is worth whatever somebody is prepared to pay for it and what its worth for you to sell it.

If you are not sure how much its worth ask for offers but don't take the first one to offer.

dave

it depends on the situation though

i brought off a guy who was retiring AND some1 who was moving back to oz, so they wanted to sell AND i wanted to BUY, we were all happy

people who want to sell a round, normally want to for a reason, they want the deal done as quick as possible

these "round builders" have no time issues, so they can ask what they like, also these ad's in free-ads etc, you can ask for it what you like, you might not get it though

Matt

I would never never buy a round off a round builder not even for 1 times the monthly clean.

I would not consider a round until it had been cleaned for at least 2 years.

It looks like i keep disagreeing with you, I am not trying to ,honestly :-0
